Tweeting nice things about the guys that will be replacing him, oh Lats.

In all seriousness though I would hope that we re-sign him and that he doesn't get replaced by any one for many years to come.

In the same game, the "Young Guns" line with Larsson, Landeskog (Colorado) and Jarnkrok (Detroit prosp) played really impressive and was the best on ice for at least the first half of the game. If this continues Larsson might very well earn a spot in the WC team! (and a third gold this year?)

On the other hand, since Ottawa lost their final game yesterday, Silverberg will most certainly join team Sweden, and is expected to play with Jarnkrok as they have had insane chemistry all season. Might be at the expense of Larsson... Anyway, could be an interesting game this saturday as Sweden faces Russia. Be sure to find a stream as both Larsson and Brodin will be playing!
Thanks for the update. I'm really starting to like this Larsson kid.

We're going to have so much competition coming into next year with Coyle's playoff performance as well as Larsson's impressive playoff performance. I think the Burns trade was absolutely the right move. Setoguchi is meh, and his upside at this point is probably a solid 2nd liner or a 3rd liner that can score, but Coyle and Phillips could make us completely forget about Burns for years to come. Might be a steal if those two guys pan out for us.

The 2nd round in 2010 is looking great, can't wait for next year to come.

Unfortunatly I haven't seen so much of Coyle yet, but what I read about him often sounds exactly like a description of Larsson. Seams like they have very similar way of playing, maybe Coyle being somewhat more of a hitter and Larsson somewhat more of a play maker? Really looking forward on seeing them at the same time!

I think Coyle has more offensive upside than Larsson does. I haven't been able to picture Larsson ever being in our top six yet with guys like Granlund, Coyle and Zucker probably getting their shots before he does.

I still think Larsson could end up being a poor man's Zetterberg. 25g and 65pts with good two way play.

Perhaps Granlund could become poor man's Datsyuk and Brodin poor man's Lidström, so we'd have poor man's Detroit Red Wings.

thought experiment....

How annoying/difficult would it be to play against a line of:
Coyle - Koivu - Larsson

All defensive beasts capable of putting up some numbers. Assuming Coyle and Larsson hit their potential of course

you remember when Laviollete refused to play vs Tampa Bay because they trap?

yeah i think the opposing team would boycott by not even sending players out onto the ice

Might be true, personally I don't know Coyle good enough to tell and it's hard to compare the SEL with QMJHL. But to put Larssons season in perspective, I've listed a few other Swedish players (with varying offensive upside) below and how they performed in the SEL at the age of 19. I don't think Larsson is a natural sniper, but he does have a lot of offensive upside. He also carried his own line this season and could probably have scored a lot more if playing in the top line (as he only did occasionally in the end of close games and in the finals), as suggested by his many power play points.

If he could only take the shot more often than seeking the passing alternative I think he has a lot more to show. Hopefully Landeskog (235 shots in his NHL rookie season) can teach him some in todays game against Russia...!

Johan Larsson 36 (12+24)
Henrik Zetterberg 34 (20+14)
Loui Eriksson 14 (5+9)
Linus Omark 17 (8+9)
Henrik Sedin 47 (9+38)
Daniel Sedin 42 (16+26)
Nicklas Backstrom 26 (10+16)
Alexander Steen 15 (5+10)
Patric Hornqvist 34 (23+11)
Michael Nylander 28 (11+17)
Kristian Huselius 3 (2+1)
Daniel Alfredsson 20 (12+8) (div 1)

Due to rules per CBA we can't sign franking till after WC are done. Our beat writer has said the wild feel confident deal will be done, he has gone so far to say that all that's left is to cross the t's and dot the i's

This would make his an elite 2nd line border line 1st line center. If he is on wing that would again be very very good.

so how about some privileged info? Do you know if Phillips sees himself and Coyle playing in the AHL next year or if he thinks they both have a chance to make the Wild roster? He looked great with Granlund and Larsson last year in camp, too...Looks like the kind of guy who can fit right in with whoever he plays with. Not our best prospect but i think he's probably the lowest maintenance guy where finding the right fit is concerned. with the amount of line juggling we've been subjected to the last couple of years that's a huge plus.

trying to think back to camp...who was playing center when Phillips, Larsson, and Granlund were operating as a line? i'm pretty sure Phillips was playing wing.

if larsson did this at age 19 compared to all these other names, and he keeps progressing... well then we hit the jackpot

(Granlund rated 9th in that hf top 50 prospects)

If they win, they will play for the President Cup.

Then, if they win the Cup, they will go in Shawinigan for the Memorial Cup.
