Encouraging discussion and debate is my job, eliminating crap like trying to tell people they're not allowed to have an opinion is my job.

Telling someone they're wrong is completely different from telling people they're not allowed to say what they think.

Hockey old timers will never give up the notion that defensive hockey = playoff hockey.

It's an archaic cliche that's not remotely true. Dale Hunter doesn't have them playing playoff hockey any more than Boudreau had them playing playoff hockey, or any more than Wilson had them playing playoff hockey.

'Playoff hockey' is winning battles, sacrificing your body, and, above all, winning games.

The Flyers played playoff hockey against the Pens.

I think Aucoin saved a pretty certain Boston goal from happening early in the game today, which might well have ended up changing the result had he not happened to be there and do that. I am not in favor of Aucoin playing in the NHL in general, but he did make a good play there. It was so long ago I don't really remember the details, but I'm pretty sure I'm not making this up. Maybe I got him mixed up with someone else.

Good. I'm okay with this considering BB has been taking shots at the caps, especially Ovi. **** him.

Yes. I said I agreed. Keith Aucoin also isn't a paraplegic; he's a skilled hockey player who has had realistic dreams of playing in the NHL.

Offensively he wasn't providing much, credit Seidenberg-Chara. I will say he looked pretty decent defensively today, maybe he's buying in.

BB hasn't been taking shots at Ovie. You're imagining things.

All I have to say is, the Caps played great.

To go and win in game 7 overtime is the best you could of wished for, they kept their composure and capitalized on a chance and won the game.

Pretty interesting. Thanks.

I got this from cbc.ca:

Quote:
Thomas, the reigning Vezina and Conn Smythe Trophy winner, gave Holtby a tap on the shoulder and said, "Great job, kid."

Whenever you see a team blocking over 130 shots in a 7 games series, it is what I call "sacrificing your body".

Congrats to the Caps for a well deserved win and now to the next round....

Have to admit it. Tim Thomas has won me over, seeing his interaction with Backstrom after the game and hearing on the feed his remarks to Holtby, "Great job kid".

Wasn't able to catch any of the NBC feed for this game with Comcast and Joe B and Locker doing the local broadcast. I have to admit that when watching this series on Comcast, thought that they did an inferior job production wise and camera shots versus what I've seen from NBC. Quite disappointed in the Comcast coverage during actual play. Well won't have to be concerned with that anymore for the remainder of the playoffs.

Tim Thomas also looked like he apologized to Backstrom about the blocker punch.

Would you guys believe me if I told my dad, right before the game, that if we were to win, it would be because of Joel Ward?

Agreed. Pretty mind boggling honestly. But...they won a series. Hard to be bitter at this point in the moment but long term...that discussion needs to wait till after the playoffs.

Great win. Not sure if they won because of DH or in spite of him, but outstanding effort from pretty much everyone involved.

No he did it. I was going to post that if they did need a goalie he could fill in there ala laich. Not sure if he changes tires though. Fans may want to check before driving him.

He extended some plays... Had one good centering pastas well.

But he's useless on the pp, and also his benefits aren't above and beyond others sitting compared to hs downside.
