UFAs and RFAs, who's signed, who's not?

Sorry to make this so early, but I need to look to something bright. And our future certainly looks that way.

We currently have 10 free agents for this offseason. With this summer possibly having stars like Parise and Suter, who do we let go in order to call up from the minors or sign some depth players? Raises? Demotions? Here are the free agents:

Rolston, ~5m per year
Kelly, ~2m per year
Campbell, 1.1m per year
Pouliot, 1.1m per year
Paille, ~1m per year
Corvo, 2.2m per year
Zanon, ~2m per year
Mottau, 800k per year
Rask, 1.2m per year
Turco, 600k per year

To start off, Rolston obviously isn't going to be resigned unless he takes a significant demotion. At least by 3m. That's not going to happen.

Kelly has been offered a contract, not sure what's going to happen with that.

Pouliot is a depth player. He played alright and the same in the playoffs. If we can get him for under 2m, I wouldn't complain. Wouldn't complain to see him go, though.

Paille, Campbell, and Zanon. Some 4th line/3rd pairing players. If we resigned them, we would likely get them for around the same price. I'll leave it up to Chiarelli for their fates. I think Campbell stays, Paille goes.

Corvo shouldn't be resigned no matter what. That's one positive of the season ending early

I doubt we see Mottau signed. Cheap 7th defenseman if we don't resign Zanon or Cross doesn't make it, maybe.

We have no need for Turco, he's good as gone.

Now the most important, Rask. How much do we sign him for? If Thomas is on the way out, there's 5m in space for him. If not, some space from Rolston/Corvo moving is there. How much is he worth? He might be getting some offer sheets.

Here's a list of my lineup next year. Not making any figurative trades.
??? = players I don't think will be resigned.
Lucic Krejci Horton
Marchand Bergeron Seguin
??? Peverley ???
??? Campbell Thornton

Chara Boychuk
Seidenberg ???
McQuaid ???
Zanon/Mottau/???

Thomas/Rask (fight for #1)
Khudobin

Parise and Suter are obviously the big names this summer. But besides signing, I'd say these are the prospects that are most NHL ready:

Caron, if you count him. He earned his ice time and I expect to see him on the third line on opening day.

Knight, I think he's NHL ready. Very solid prospect.

Koko, had a terrible injury, but he was fantastic when he was healthy, and in the WJC.

Hamilton, He makes the team unless he's not ready. OHL defenseman of the year, this kid is a stud. PP problems, hopefully look here.

Cross, had a good season on a dominant BC team. Would look for him to be the 7th defenseman, possibly a trial on the third pairing.

What are your takes on the free agency coming up this summer? Obviously I didn't talk about signing players, I don't know a lot of the smaller, depth names this year. But you're welcome to make a figurative lineup for next year, along with your takes on our free agents.

(I didn't see the offseason thread, was afk in this make a thread thing for a long time. If you want to merge, go ahead. If you feel it's different enough, whatever.)

sign parise, let kelly walk, move Krejci to #3 center

Lucic - Seguin - Parise
Marchand - Bergeron - Horton
Caron - Krejci - Peverley
Knight - Campbell - Thornton

Chara - Boychuk
Seids - Ference
Hamilton - McQuaid
Zanon or Mottau

Rask/TT

something like that.

Kelly, Paille, Poo, Corvo, Rolston and one of Mottau/Zanon walk

Hopefully Kelly is back, maybe to Campbell. I doubt Paille, Zanon or Pouliot are back. Definite no's for Rolston, Turco, Mottau and Corvo.

I look to trade Thomas this offseason. Not because of the playoffs, but it's time to say happy trails to Thomas and install Tuukka as the future.

If they can re-sign Kelly, and sign Parise, and Horton's status is up in the air:

Lucic - Krejci - Parise
Marchand - Bergeron - Seguin
Caron - Kelly - Peverley
Paillie/?? - Campbell - Thornton

Chara - Boychuk
Seidenberg - McQuaid
Ference - Hamilton

Rask
Khudobin

If they can re-sign Kelly, and sign Parise, and Horton is good to go, I also trade Krejci:

Lucic - Seguin - Parise
Marchand - Bergeron - Horton
Caron - Kelly - Peverley
Paillie/?? - Campbell - Thornton

Chara - Boychuk
Seidenberg - McQuaid
Ference - Hamilton

Rask
Khudobin

If the ylet Kelly walk, and sign Parise, and Horton is good to go:

Lucic - Seguin - Parise
Marchand - Bergeron - Horton
Caron - Krejci - Peverley
Paillie/?? - Campbell - Thornton

Chara - Boychuk
Seidenberg - McQuaid
Ference - Hamilton

Rask
Khudobin

-Sign Parise.

-Dougie slots in with McQuaid on the back-end of the D while getting some PP time with Z.

-Krug/Warsofsky/Bartkowski battle for the 7th D spot. Edge to Krug(?)

-Re-sign Campbell and Kelly. Re-sign Tuukka.

-Rolston, Zanon, Paille, Corvo, Mottau, Turco all walk.

-Caron takes Paille's spot on the fourth unit.

-Rookie makes the squad on the third unit with Kelly and Pevs. Likely Spooner/Knight. If not one of these guys then a vet will be brought in.

***All with the uncertainty regarding Horton.

Lucic-Krejci-Parise-
Marchand-Bergeron-Seguin
Peverley-Kelly-Spooner/Vet
Caron-Campbell-Thornton

Chara-Boychuk
Seidenberg-Ference
McQuaid-Hamilton
Krug

Thomas
Rask

Flip these and we're in the same mindset.

Caron looks awful with the 4th line. His game is much better suited for a grinding 3rd liner.

We have 1m right now, but with Rolston and Corvo automatically gone, that's 8m. Take away ~1m for raises, ~2m for Rask. Around 5m. This isn't counting Zanon, Pouliot, etc. walking.

kelly was our best forward in the playoffs this year, that being said i think he is moving on, this teams effort this post season is going to leave a sour taste in many players mouths.

Rolston - retired
Kelly - would go mid-high $2 million for him
Campbell - sure, at low $1 million
Pouliot - yes, mid-high $1 million
Paille - sure, at $1 million
Corvo - lololol
Zanon - hopefully, around $1.5 million, would take him over Quaider if need be
Mottau - let him walk
Rask - #1 priority, not sure what he'll want
Turco - retired

As it stands right now, the Bruins have approximately $10 million in cap space if you are counting Hamilton (not including his bonuses nor is it accounting for any jump in the cap) - this figure also has Savard on LTIR.

Mottau looked good tonight

I hope we resign him

Also I'd like Paille, Pouliot, Kelly, Rask resigned

I'd be ok with Rolston, Campbell, Zanon as long as its cheap

Corvo can hit the road

The two UFA's I keep first and foremost are Kelly and Campbell. I don't like to lose Paille, but his skillset isn't THAT rare. Kelly and Campbell are a big part of our faceoff game and keep pressure off Bergeron in that department, I consider both of them important to how this team needs to re-tool for next year.

I think we should be able to retain all our RFA's.

Agree. I don't think this team thinks they need to make a big change. We'll see some adjustment of the forward roster, and maybe some promoted rookies and otherwise I don't expect a big offseason from this team.

Not good news, Kelly is an important player. Losing him will hurt.
