Legend of Korra (spoilers)

I dont know if anyone ever watched the avatar series? but i just saw the first episode next avatar series, definitely very interesting.

I love the works they had with avatar, it was fascinating. The mythos was very rich, i wonder if anyone else saw the first episode ?

For a kids show, Avatar was pretty incredible. You do have to lighten up a tiny bit to get into it, but it ends up being more involving, fun, and rich than alot of other, more serious shows.

For some reason, I'm not that interested in Korra, though. I kind of feel like one series was satisfying enough for me. Unless it ends up getting rave reviews or something, of course.

Legend of Korra

Am I just missing it?

How has there not been a thread yet?

3 episodes in, 4th airs Saturday on Nick at 11AM Est.

Absolutely loving it so far. Wish they wouldn't have skipped so much, but it's been great. Can't wait for each episode.

I watch a lot of TV, and I've never heard of it. I'll have to Google it now because I'm intrigued.

Maybe because the movies were so terrible?

That's kind of a stupid way to judge something.

Only watched the pilot episode so far, but it seems to be pretty good. As a big fan of the previous show, I will most assuredly watch "Legend of Korra."

Holy crap thanks for the heads up, I'm so excited to watch it now. Avatar is definitely the show a grown man cannot admit he watches, but I was glad a friend of mine recommended it to me. I totally loved it.

I'm loving it almost as much as I loved the first series. I wish Nick would move it back to Thursday nights like they did with Avatar instead of having it on Saturday morning.

Kind of a sad society that we consider something like this childish and embarrassing but all those dumb sitcoms are 'mature' enough and encouraged for adults.

Just watched the second episode. The quality of the animation is just stunning. Beautiful stuff.

The story seems to be pretty good as well. I like the direction they went with (headstrong Avatar).

Good stuff.

To me, Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the best series ever made, and easily Nick's best, AINEC . After watching Legend of Korra, it's shaping up to be as good as the original series, maybe even with an outside chance of being better. First 4 episodes were amazing, waiting in anticipation for the 5th.

I really like the steampunk element that they have in LoK. The mix of elemental and traditional features and the cars/zeppelins/electricity is really well done.

Also, the fact that Spike from Cowboy Bebop is the main villain... just awesome.

And the best part is that, unlike the ethnocentric, xenophobic and genocidal firebenders from series 1, the villains this time around actually have kind of a point. Benders have an unfair advantage over non benders that takes place in everyday life. You may not agree with their extreme methods, but you can understand where they are coming from (unlike Ozai "LOL lets kill everyone PHOENIX KING").

Loving this series so far.

It's an Occupy Republic City movement.

Those damn 1%ers! Having bending powers over the common man...

Spoil:
We've heard about almost everyone's children from the last series.

Aang and Kitara's son is the air bending master. Toph's daughter is the head of the metal benders(Police basically).

There's been a lack of follow up with Zuko's legacy.

To be fair, the worst Amon's done so far is take bending away from a bunch of gangsters who were terrorizing the city, and accept Korra's challenge only to spare her life.

On the other hand, the Benders basically just raided (and it looked like murdered, but probably not) a school of harmless martial arts students and push around non-benders in general.

It's hard not to be on the antagonist's side so far. Especially considering that Korra's only response to the guy preaching about oppression was to completely destroy and mess up his stand and yell "Bending's great!" to his face.

I've got a theory about that, but I'll wait until later in the series to reveal it, as there are a few clues I need to confirm it.

I have to agree with you, Shareefruck, it is pretty hard to not side with them. If they weren't so obviously painted as the antagonists, you probably couldn't tell who was who.

Considering he openly says he wants to remove bending powers from everyone, not just bad guys, I don't find the villain all the sympathetic right now. lol

I don't think "I propose we remove bending powers from just the 'bad guys'" is much of a realistic or possible solution from their POV. Isn't their whole point that bending itself is a threat that oppresses non-benders? Considering even the ******* [it's ridiculous that the alternative to gosh-darn is censored] Avatar was abusing her powers and pushing around the people in protest just because she can, I still think it's hard to argue with. And he seems to be doing it in a way that avoids there being a war.

It's not like he's proposed to kill them or anything. I'm sure he'll get worse as the series goes, but so far he hasn't done much more than the equivalent of threatening to take everyone's guns because guns are dangerous (well, sort of-- there are other uses sure, but it seems to be primarily a weapon).
