In my defense, I was only trying to run him out of town so that Schneider could take his rightful place at the throne. Once he's gone, I truly do wish him best of luck, and I'll high five him next time I see him.
This is openly saying you're root for Schneider over Luongo while forgetting that the ultimate goal is the Stanley cup. Why not, while he is here, cheer for Luongo to try and win the cup?
How low is his low side - seeing it now. How high is his upside - the kind of decent player you can get as UFA. What not target Garrison, even if his offense dries up he's still a better defenseman than Schenn is atm.
Yeah, good point. I don't think Schenn is an "A" prospect, just think he could potentially improve. But you are probably right, I doubt he brings anything you couldn't find on the UFA market.
Luongo is not insulated from the bullying that comes from the fans of this city, he obviously sees and hears it all. I'm amazed at how bad it's gotten.
The Luongo bashes have a complete lack of accountability. Surprise, surprise!!
"Bullying"?
And you think he really cares what a vocal minority says about him?
its funny all the people talking about problems with management like its fact, just because botchford said it. give me a break. why didnt botchford come out with this information in the past? dont you think he would have liked to have broken that scoop?

Exactly. I find Van Horne's moustache much more reliable.

Tell that to the legion of Raymond haters out there who are preying on his next mistake. What Canuck fan wouldn't want to run him out of town?
I guarantee you Gillis did not ask Roberto to waive. Luongo has been treated like **** by some fans and I'm happy for him he's finally going to a place that will hopefully appreciate him more than Vancouver did.
You might not like it or accept it, but it's the truth. Luongo has been treated like **** by the fans.
Oh stop being such a drama queen. Luongo at times didn't handle himself well, and the franchise bent over backward for him.
When he played poorly they noticed. Boo ****ing hoo. I respect how Luongo has handled himself during this situation, and do agree he's the best regular season goaltender we've ever had. Did a lot to help this franchise. Now he may get moved, I wish him the best wherever he goes but am going to pout about it.
Always ends up being. What's the last a time a high-profile player got dealt without this kind of public attention? At least it's civil, not a gong-show like Healtey, Kessel, and Nash.
Luongo getting traded is not upsetting. Fans booing him at the rink is. Personally I would love to knock a few teeth out of every fan that boos the team. But that's just me.
Wear the colours with respect or don't wear them at all. That's kind of how I also felt about the suburban contingent that partied after game 7 last year.
Not every fan booed him though, man. A few booing morons aren't indicative of the entire fanbase, just like the rioting *******s weren't indicative of Vancouver, or the team.
And let's not forget how many "LUUUUUU"'s he got through the years for standard, mundane saves.
Regardless, even when he was booed, that is the nature of pro sports, especially for star players. Not saying money makes the boos any easier, but there is a reason these guys make millions of dollars. Being a professional, high-profile athlete is a tough job. Feeling sorry for the guy for a few boo-birds is silly, IMO.
Truly the end of an era
Luongo has been nothing but a class act in this city.
Unfortunately the writing is on the wall.
Disgusting how some fans treated him, he didn't deserve half the criticism he got, especially after the offensive **** show in last years finals.
Good luck Luongo, I hope and pray you do not end up in Chicago.

The problem is people (a very large minority) booed him after 2 months of exceptional play. Play that in my opinion helped us win the presidents trophy (along with Schnieds).

I doubt it. He submits his list of teams and Gillis proceeds to figure out the details. The reason those other cases became gong shows is because either there was animosity from the player (Heatley) or the team didn't handle it properly (Nash).

Idiots will always be idiots. Vancouver has a contingent of one of the worst fanbases in pro sports, I admit. Luongo knows this as well, I'm sure.
The real fans, even those that prefer Schneider, know Luongo is still an excellent goalie, and still respect and wish him the best. I know I do.
And again, remember practically all of GM Place used to chant LUUUU every time he stopped a dump-in. A lot of people thought that was pretty stupid, as well.
Don't get why this is all playing out so quickly and so publicly.
Here's a theory on why this is being made public:
Someone with the team purposely leaked Toronto being on the shortlist because this puts a ton of pressure on Brian Burke to pony up and not miss out on the opportunity to snag Luongo. Burkie's job is on the line and he's under a ton of pressure because of the goaltending situation there. Making this public through a backdoor channel could be a really shrewd stratagem to force Burke's hand and extract maximum value out of him in the trade. I'm sure that Gillis in his player agent days must have had to use similar tactics when negotiating deals for his clients.
