Gagné Still Hopeful for Return

http://www.simongagne.com/2012/04/25...ul-for-return/

Overall, it’s going well. I started training a bit. It’s going the right way. Now, the doctors are much more careful and take their time before allowing a player to come back at the game. The doctors are much more aware of the problem. In my case, it’s very important to take my time. I won’t make the same mistake again, when I went back to play when I was only at 90%. As I am now.

“There’s no really time line with this kind of injury. There’s some steps you have to go through before being able to play again. I would have like to come back before the end of the season and be ready for the playoffs but it didn’t happen. We never know. If the team goes far in playoffs, the season can last 2 more months. It could give me time to get ready and get back at 100%.”

I appreciate what he's saying, but he needs to seriously contemplate retirement

Heh... The interesting part is he says he's at 90% and that he played at 90% the last time, which implies it's conditioning now more than anything. We'll see.

I can't imagine though that we'll see him until Round 3 at the earliest if the Kings advance.

good news, hopefully he comes back for you guys. He sparked the Flyers 0-3 comeback against Boston a couple of years ago when he came back from injury

if carter continues to be invisible
wouldn't hurt putting him in.

Carter may be invisible on the score sheet to this point but I guarantee he's seen (and reacted to) by the opposing coach for what he can do - which I'm convinced still makes life easier for the other lines, particularly Kopitar's.

Maybe you weren't suggesting replacing Carter with Gagne, though.....

I wonder if Sedin was 100% when he came back? Gagne's waaaaay ahead in # of concussions compared to Sedin, though.

I think he should just be done for the season and try again next year when he knows he's 100%.

It would be huge to get him back. He is a clutch playoff performer and has history with both Richards and Carter.

Gagne-Richards-Carter would be devastating if we can get them together and healthy.

This isn't fair.

This is like your friends buying you a stripper when you just had a vasectomy.

It's not that easy to stop playing something you love and have been doing all your life. I'm sure he has thought about it a lot with his family.

Play through the pain. The only thing that will be leaving you body is weakness.

But yeah, Gagne would be better off waiting till next year. He needs to be careful.

He should really just hold off, unless the Kings get desperate, but even then.... I give credit to Sedin for coming back early like that. Concussions are risky business and I hate to see guys retire early because of it (damn you Craig Johnson).

Not sure I really want him in this playoffs. No need to change things. Gagne was pretty poor for a month before the injury. Maybe the rest helps him. I don't know. Who do they sit?

no goodbye just yet. Not to mention the fact that the cap raise is gonna be high (rumor has 69mio$ cap) with the record revenue sharing, new TV contract, beer contract...
just sayin'
