Wasn't my intention to imply you didn't watch the games, I can see how you might have gotten that impression though.

On Tavares, yes he's a great player, and what I meant by mentioning him is that Getz should be playing on same level as him, as he's at least equally talented.

Getzlaf chose to goon it up today.

...and Slovakia is on top within seconds of the five minute major. Way to **** it up Getzy.

That's the cherry on top of a complete season to forget for him. (At least I hope it is.) Hopefully this will nag him this offseason a bit in a positive way.

Getzlaf costs Canada the game. Meh, it means more rest for him and Perry at least. They've already won the gold medal that counts.

Wow, Getz have gone through a lot this season. This is not a finish of the season he would want.

Perry and Getz again without golds to be the youngest (?) players to win bigest 3 tournaments.

Meh, actually, i feel sorry for Getz. Hope he is back as he should, in next season.

GO GETZ!

If it doesn't, then we need a new captain ASAP.

I'm already split on considering the captaincy-experiment a failure. When he got the C, it was obvious they hoped it would get him to want to grow into the role and the responsibilities that came along with it, but as of now, there isn't anything visible of all that. In the end, what's happening in the room is about as important as what happens on the ice, but I have a hard time seeing Getz as the character.

The real problem is that we don't know what taking the C away will do. I don't think he'll ask for someone else to take it. And I don't think we'll want to take a chance on angering him in any way as long as he's not signed beyond next summer.

Hopefully he can hit that reset button in the off-season, otherwise we're in for another very frustrating season.

I think Getzy has two (mental) problems to deal with, that showed up this season.

1) Personal life. Being a dad and a husband must take some focus away from hockey, but I think he'll find his balance again next season.

2) Motivation when he's won already "everything". Most players say they're motivated to win the Cup. For example Koivu said in an interview a couple of days ago that so far his greatest regret is that he hasn't won it yet and it's his main motivation to play. This I think won't be that easy for Getzy to overcome. He has to find some new motivation. If not winning it for himself, then win it for the team?

Finland is dominating, but Howard is standing on his head, or else it would be Finland winning by 1 or 2 goals.

KP with the answer! I don't know how Finland's defense didn't see him in the slot.

I knew if Finland scored, USA would kick up their game. Hopefully, the goal is a sign of that.

Wow, I feel terrible for Getzlaf. Captaining Canada to a Gold medal would have given him a nice boost going into next year season after a disastrous year. Instead, he is the reason Canada loses. Brutal.

It's funny to see all of the Canadians homer it up, when you know if Getz did that in a Ducks jersey, they'd be all over him.

And with Canada out, the US has a very strong chance to medal if they keep playing well.

EDIT: I'm never opening my mouth again.

Well, that sucked. Scott Gordon is a moron that hopefully won't ever sit behind our team's bench ever again. On the bright side, the American Ducks did well, and none of them were responsible for the loss.

Tries to put the shoulder into him, guy jumps inside, Getzlaf's foot is planted and they connect. Not a lot Getzlaf could have done differently, aside from making the decision far sooner not to hit the player. An "in the moment" call for the officials without the benefit of replay, so I don't really blame them that much, but it was the wrong call and a really really bad break for Getzlaf who I thought was having a very strong tournament.

Offline, I haven't spoken to one person who follows the sport who agrees with the call, which includes more Americans than Canadians. It is a questionable call that directly led to the elimination of the Canadians...do you really expect them not to "homer it up"?
