It's like a sneak peek at next year

That being said, Foligno's been money on that 2nd line and I wouldn't touch that

I'd hold off on putting Silf in. Go with the same lineup, keep Stone in there and take care of business at home. Silf can get time to adjust to the time zone, practice, meet the guys, learn the systems and generally get comfortable.

Yup. Everyone has played well and nobody deserves to come out just yet.

There's no reason to believe that Silfverberg will be a better option than Butler atm. Butler has played well and has a lot of jump imo.

looks like Alfie could be good to go, if so I'd say we see Stone come out.

You`re not serious ? Stone has more points lol

What has Butler done ?

Silfverberg MVP Captain Champ
backing from players like Forsberg

Butler was good in game in 4, but was more or less back to being useless in game 5. I wouldn't take him out for Silfverberg at this moment however.

Butler played in the NHL. Silfverberg played in the SEL and has never played with anyone on the Senators. Not too hard to figure this one out.

Butler won the Calder Cup last year and was a key part of that team. Scored a lot of clutch goals and he's a better skater.

I absolutely believe Silf will be a much better player down the road, I just think given the circumstances, I'd rather have Butler for game 6. Game 1 of round 2 is a different story though

Butler has played with the team all year, knows the other players, systems, forecheck patterns, etc.

Who knows what kind of shape Silfverberg will be in when he arrives. He needs a couple days to get grounded.
Why put him in a position to fail?

Also add that this series has been very physical. It would be a mistake for the Sens to put Silfverberg in for Game 6, as he still will be adjusting to the time change plus he'll have to adjust to the smaller rink and a more physical style of game. The current group is doing a good job, so I would be surprised if there were significant changes to the starting lineup.

Butler did hell of a job on all those things from press box

Butler is press box player
Silfverberg is a player the Murrays have been waiting for he will Play if u like it or not he is a part of the future ..butler was signed 1 year to long

If Alfie is good to go, then they will likely take Butler out. Stone played well last game and should improve as he practices more with the team and plays a few more games. Butler is a bit of a snakebitten player; he is brought into the lineup to create offence, but he has struggled to put up points. Stone's pass to Spezza showed some exceptional skill. The most important thing is to get Spezza going offensively, so far Stone has done the best job of that.

Eventually I would like to see a Silfverberg-Spezza-Stone line, or at the very least in practice. That could very well be our 1st line next year. It would actually be somewhat similar to the Heatley-Sepzza-Alfie line, because Silfverberg plays a lot like Alfie and Stone plays a lot like Heatley.

What about Hoffman in for Butler? Butler has had a couple of good games, but he has struggled to put up points.

I'd obviously be in favour of that but it sounds like Alfie might play.

Stone was good, don't get me wrong, but the kid played less then 9 minutes, and almost 4 of that was on a PP which really wasn't that dangerous. He had one great pass early on, and otherwise played a solid but bland game. That's a great thing for a rookie in his first game, but lets not get ahead of ourselves, I don't think he really was responsible for getting Spezza going.

As far as Silf and Stone flanking Spezza on the first line as early as next year, I think it's highly unlikely to have 2 rookies on the 1st line, especially if we want to be a consistent playoff contender. We might see that line sometime in the future, but it's way to early right now.

I wouldn't make too many drastic changes to the lineup after winning 3 of last 4 games..

I was primarily talking about the pass he made. As many posters have argued on these boards, Spezza needs talented wingers. Stone's vision, Hockey IQ, positioning and overall offensive skill set helps Facilitates Spezza's skills. When I mentioned "getting Spezza going" I was referring to getting him with players that can help facilitate and optimize his abilities.
