If I said who is the consensus #1 and where do we draft or who do we take? Would this spark some activity?

He was added to TC way before that, and with Subban's injury it's now or never to see what he's got for an exhibition game.

Interesting write up.

Scout's Opinions on Prospects Differ

To those who know a lot about the game, know or at least aware that while in the mainstream a “consensus” is formed sometimes on the NHL draft, on a team to team basis there usually is no consensus. I have gotten to see this when talking to pro scouts and NHL execs, so I figure as a fun blog post, to share with you some of the disagreements I’ve heard from different teams on notable prospects. The following are all quotes from scouting sources I’ve talked to within the industry this year along with where I ranked the respective prospects:

Do you have a link? I can't find it.
EDIT: never mind. I though you were talking about a mock draft on NHL.COM, not mynhldraft.com...

Loved the blog. Maybe some folks on here can stop quoting McKenzie's draft rankings as if it were THE BIBLE of draft rankings

Who else would love to see MTL draft Henrik Samuelsson in the 2nd rd. Yes the name looks familiar as his dad was Mr.Dirty himself Ulf.

The kids a Power Forward prospect that could be a solid 2nd rd pick. But mostly, it would just be awesome to hear the visceral hate that Bruin fans' would have just because of his last name...on top of their sheer hatred for Les Canadiens.

I was big on him early on, I've read some reports that questioned his skating and would probably take him with the 2nd second rounder.

Of course he would wear #8.

Well let's spark things up a bit. I've got an hour or so to spare to try to answer some draft Q's anyone might have.

Thanks Grant. If you're still here, I'll start with the obvious... can you tell us who you think TT's top 5 would be based on your opinion only.

OK Grant I'll bite. I always like hearing another opinion. Especially yours....you were dead on about Jenner last year....I like that kid a lot!

First what are your thought on Galchenyuk (and how do you pronounce him damn name !?! hehe)? He is probably the most interesting prospect because there are so many questions with him. Does the injury scare you? Do you feel like scouts will know him well enough to take him top 5? What do you think of his work ethic/intangibles?

thanks!!

First round skill, but I wouldn't take him there. Too many red flags this year, including showing up at the Top Prospects Game in terrible shape. They measured body fat there, and it wasn't pretty. Also think he's a bit of a phoney when it comes to toughness. Won't actually ever fight, just jab guys with his stick after the whistle and wait for the refs to step in. I can see him dropping to the second round, but someone may step up and take a chance, perhaps a team with several top 60 picks.
