stuck w/NBCS or do we have options?

Have basic package, w/MSG for NYR.

Nice that weekend game on NBC, but follow up games are on NBCS (NBC Sports, previously Versus, if I have that correctly).

Any options on viewing besides going out to watch location w/NBCS?
I'm up for a viewing party but that's not the point.

We pay good money for cable and expect to be able to watch home team.
If NBC has playoff rights, fine, but should make viewing available on basic station.

If not NBC, ok CNBC, which they were doing earlier, which is not a premium channel.

Can we press NBC to flip?
complain to NHL?
Threaten to partially boycott NBC?

Any ideas....

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure all the games are on MSG and it's blacked out on NBCS in our area anyhow. Usually my TV guide shows that the game is on NBCS and then they show some documentary about the Miracle on Ice on that channel and the game is on MSG instead. For people outside of our area, it would be on NBCS.

Honestly, NBC has done a great job covering Hockey. Just mute the sound and listen to our radio feed.

Maloney and Albert>Rosen and Micheletti.

MSG is just doing post (maybe pre, too) game shows on the upcoming rounds. Everything is going to be on the NBC family of networks (NBC, CNBC, NBCSPORTS).

Upgrade for a few weeks if you don't have NBC Sports Network and cancel when you don't need it anymore.

Send a message via AIM to RothmanHockey
NBC has exclusivity for rest of playoffs. If you don't get NBC Sports Network, either have to subscribe or you won't be able to see the games.

MSG will have full pre-game and post-game shows.

NBCS does a great job. We may even wind up with the Kenny Albert/Joe Micheletti combination.

Those things would be about as plausible as your trade proposals. The phrase "pissing in the wind" comes to mind.

I have to agree being out of market all of the games have been on NBCSN and they have done an outstanding job covering all the PO games...aside from the announcers who called the games in Ottawa (f You Hayward) the production has been top rate. For all of us who have been screaming for a National TV deal and more exposure NBC/NBCSN have done a first rate job.

Honestly? Upgrade your cable package just for 2 months of the playoffs then downgrade after that.

Most cable companies include NBC Sports in the basic digital package, it is certainly not a "premium" channel.

As previous posters said, the second round and beyond are exclusive to the NBC family of networks. Nothing on CNBC for us but NBC and NBCSN. MSG only has a 1 hour post-game, no pregame.

I am guessing (hoping) it's the same deal in the Baltimore/DC area? I was assuming I'd have to watch the game on Comcast SportsNet and listen to Joe Beninati (who isn't bad) and Gilbert Gottfried (Craig Laughlin - who is horrendous and grates the eardrums).

So I can relax knowing that this will not be broadcast on CSN and will be shown on the NBC station instead?

Yes you can.

Only the NBC family will have coverage.

Might have Joe Micheletti as color guy...he did a few NBCSN games on nights the Rangers weren't playing.

Then again, they might put him on another series so that the PbP/Color guys are impartial to the team's playing.

I actually like Doc Emerick, i feel like he makes great calls and doesn't sound as bland or homer-ish type calls as some of the other play by play guys in the league, and there are some just BRUTAL announcers. Even though Sam has slipped a bit, hes as good as they come.

I miss Gary Thorne, guy has a voice like no other the NHL needs him back. Remember when ESPN during the 90's was watchable?

Gary Thorne?

Gary Thorne sucks.

Here's a sample of Thorne from the 90's. Rangers here in Philly tonight to take on the Penguins. Lemieux comes in over the blue and the puck is stripped by Leetch and he feeds it ahead to Messier, Messier drives in to the zone, passes across for Graves, and WHAT A SAVE BY RICHTER!! Richter keeping the Rangers at bay here.
