Wow, their coach is a moron. He's probably just sticking up for Taylor since the Ricoh crowd was giving their goalie a hard time the entire game with the "TAYYYYLOR TAYYYYLORR" chants.
And to the other poster who said comparing the ahl to the nhl is like men vs boys, I implore you to purchase tickets to the marlies next home game. Certainly the play is much sloppier in the AHL, some guys clearly dont belong on the ice since their either way too good for this level or the other way around, but if you want to compare the quality of physicality during the game, i.e. the hitting with the ahl vs the nhl, it's pretty darn close. They even had to take a tv timeout to replace a pane of glass in last nights game after a huge hit along the boards. Last nights game was the first marlies game I've gone to, and I'm praying it wont be the last this year. Best $15 spent ever.
I get that he was sticking up for his goalie, it's just the manner in which he did it that I thought was funny because it made him look foolish. There are so many other ways he could have gone about addressing his goalie's performance in the game and of all the things he could have said, he decides to make a petty comment. I would honestly face palm if I ever heard Eakins say anything as stupid as that.
Intense hustle and physical tenacity doesn't necessarily mean passion. Ilya Kovalchuck doesnt really play physical, and isnt really aggressive, but I dont think anyone can question his passion since coming to New Jersey.
I don't know about that, he has been known to step it up when you get under his skin.
I want you to keep an eye on Kadri and Colborne. They have to come up big in these playoffs especially Colborne with his lacklustre performance this year.
Been at two games these playoffs.
Colbrone has, IMO, been fantastic these playoffs. Very noticeable whenever he's on the ice. I hear so much about his skating being a problem but to me he's one of the better skaters out there.
Kadri has been meh, so far. He was good on Thursday, but he does too many unnecessary moves. And he doesn't do the simple pass enough. Also still does that stick tap thing which is incredibly irritating lol, but that doesn't matter. He is not head-and-shoulders above everybody, that's for sure. Still extremely weak on his skates, but seems faster than earlier in the season/last season.
Just what I've taken from these playoffs.
Edit: Keep in mind that I have higher expectations for Kadri than Colborne.
