And he understands the game more than any media member in the city. Check out his interview with Shero from last week, it's fantastic. You won't find anyone asking better and harder questions than him.

People don't like him because he's obnoxious and mean. If I had to deal with the morons that call into sports talk radio all day, I'd be an angry man too. Ron Cook is getting to the same level of hatred for callers on Fan, and he hasn't been doing it too long. You very rarely hear someone call into one of those shows and think "hey, that was a good idea." It's true that idiots truly are the loudest. That's also the reason why I avoid this place after a loss...especially a playoff loss.

I find it hilarious that my friends who claim to hate him so much listen to him literally every day, and I am always defending him, and I maybe listen to him once a week...unless I know he's going to have a good interview like the Shero one. Maybe moderation is key.

Only thing I don't like about him is his obsession with strippers and porn stars. That's just gross, but it's not like he's going to find any women on the street that would be willing to let him see them naked, so more power to him. To be honest, I'd probably rather listen to him interview some tramp than listen to the guys over at the Fan try to pretend like they know anything about hockey (the late night guy isn't bad, though).

that sums him up well. I've said it before on here that Madden does the best interviews in town. If he thought he'd get more money by being a good journalist I really think he could and would be a good journalist.

I enjoy his show as well, he always talks hockey and his interviews are top notch. Have to keep in mind that he's paying a part on the radio when he's saying inflammatory things. To his credit, he's an incredibly nice in person. Always willing to talk to people and puts up with his share of abuse due to his radio persona and weight .

As the line goes in the Howard Stern movie Private Parts:

The average radio listener listens for eighteen minutes. The average Howard Stern fan listens for - are you ready for this? - an hour and twenty minutes.

How can that be?

Answer most commonly given? "I want to see what he'll say next."

Okay, fine. But what about the people who hate Stern?

Good point. The average Stern hater listens for two and a half hours a day.

But... if they hate him, why do they listen?

Most common answer? "I want to see what he'll say next."

He is 100% different when he fills in on DVE if Prisuta is out. Because he understands he's not the marquee name there.

So while I hate his schtick, I know it's schtick.

Hockey talk with someone from the organization 2-3 times a week, or Adele and Maroon 5 over and over? Madden wins.

ESPN radio suggests there isn't anyone else out there who can.

Besides, there's more to ratings than talent or quality of the show. Name recognition goes a long way. Madden has built that.

I don't like him, but, well, hockey always comes first with him and that ain't exactly nothing.

Steiggy is a cheerleader that is miscast as a play-by-play guy.

I would be fine putting him into a historian type role, but the guy gets paid to call hockey games and there's no denying he's terrible at it.

Errey is at TSN as an analyst working the Canada game, and already made a couple slips "Let's look at the Penguins powerplay here...euh oops i mean Team Canada haha"

I didnt get to watch any other Canada games, anyone know if he's been there for all Canada games?

I generally agree that Erreys not as bad but in the playoffs this year I found him unbearable. He seemed to think it was his personal mission to fill every second of time with the droning of his voice.

Maybe it comes down to what someone else posted, that when Steigy isnt doing what he's supposed to Errey talks even more.
