Credit to @DarrenDreger, the story is true. I thought it would be Philly or Vancouver.

I'm told a number of teams were in on a possible Shea Weber trade. If Preds don't match, they receive 4- 1st round picks as compensation.

This is strange, seems like Nashville fans should be thanking Holmgren, he basically did the deal for them.

Last four drafts, original PHI first-round position was 20, 25, 29 and 21. Would you trade those for Shea Weber?

They would be four late-1st draft picks, so it's not like they're gonna pick up guaranteed superstars with these picks.

Also how hard does Nashville get gutted if they lose BOTH Suter and Weber in the same offseason?

Man, this offseason has to be hell if you're a Predators fan.

Thought Minnesota would have done it. They really needed to make a splash instead of flapping their arms in the shallow end.

With Weber in Philadelphia? More like 4 early 2nd rounders. And

I may have made an error on compensatory picks. Depending on aav, it could be 2 firsts, 2nd and a 3rd round pick if Preds don't match.

If predators match they will be playoff team quite long. They will have both Rinne and Weber in a long time contracts.

Yea but it's clear now Weber does not want to stay in Nashville, Drager mentioned Nashville and Philly was working on a trade and Holmgren got tired of waiting, do you match a guy that doesn't want to stay? Wow, unimaginable position for them to be in, four first round picks is still awfully hard even for a guy like Weber.

Weber will be earning his paycheck in Philly with Bryz in the net, that's for sure.

Best case scenario for us is if Philly picks him up.

1. Nashville is going to get those 1st round picks, but they'll be late round picks. Philly doesn't suck.

2. Detroit and Vancouver doesn't get Weber, which will certainly pizz them off.

Either way, Nashville is somewhat screwed because it seems pretty obvious that Weber doesn't want to be there. Second blow for their GM this month.

Yea i have mixed feelings, no ill will towards Nashville and there fans, but Poile really made me laugh at him after the Suter comments, if he goes out East we wouldn't have to worry about him or the Preds anymore, and if he stays in Nashville, they will still be competitive, but how long does he stay? Just a fascinating situation here.
