Two out, bottom of the 9th and down by one, runner on third....

...and Barajas and his .130 average at the plate.

Edit: Ha! And a Walk off Home Run. Pirates win.

Holy **** seriously? I turned it off in favor of watching Philly lose after Hanrahan blew the save. Goddammit.

What a finish. Barajas seems like a great guy.

Edit: This team in general is just likable. Cutch is awesome, McKenry, Tabata, Walker, Barajas, Jones all just seem like good guys to just hang out and have a beer with.

Wow really? I was 1000% sure the game was over when Laroche hit that home run. Good for Barajas and the Buccos

The one thing that Barajas does have is power and he finally showed it.

I called that result in about the sixth inning to my friend who was at the game. But I actually don't believe that just happened. LOL, Adam Laroche and Rod Barajas 9th inning heroics.

I do hope that gets Barajas going, because he's capable of more than he's shown so far. Nothing world-beating, but he should be good for an occasional HR and an average closer to 250. As it stands, there is basically a complete inning (Barmes, Barajas, pitcher) of outs in the lineup, which is not to say that the collective 1-6 guys are any better than average. I do believe that the offense is bad--it will only be good if Tabata/Walker/Cutch/Alvarez are all clicking (plus Presley, in an ideal world) and the other hitters are more than empty uniforms.

My dad and I both said "who's up to bat? Oh no, it's Barajas"

30 seconds later I was like...

OMG!

It sounds like Alderson has figured some things out and is turning it around this year. He has had a pretty solid year so far, and may be somewhat back on track.

He hasn't allowed a run yet in 13 innings at the AA level.

Alderson was slipping before we even acquired him. Keith Law said it in an interview with Stan and Guy right after the trade. Pirates fans whined that he was just being negative about the Pirates at the time, but in reality he was telling the truth. Good for Alderson if he's finally gotten back on track though.

All the big time NFL free agents have signed and now the Steelers are bargain basement shopping. Kicker Dave Rayner, pass rusher Matt Roth and linebacker Brandon Johnson are all scheduled to meet with the team. The LB's are both backup guys. Johnson is more of a special teams guy and was the Bengals special teams captain in 2010. Roth is probably the best of the group. If he's healthy from his concussion he would provide good depth at OLB especially if Worilds and/or Carter don't pickup their game.

Even if Alderson was a slipping prospect Sanchez was damaged goods who was never a third as good as his fan club would had you think.

Steelers interested in Matt Roth. He was scheduled to visit the Steelers today. I think I actually had him on the Steelers in Madden 10 or 11

I thought he was a pretty good player for Cleveland. Didn't see much of him in Jacksonville this past season.

He's a pretty good defensive end.

Also, TIOPS said something about the Steelers bringing in veteran kickers to compete with Suisham, Jason La Canfora reported that the Steelers are bringing in veteran kicker Dave Rayner. Last year he split time between Buffalo and Oakland, 10 for 15 on Field goals, 13 for 13 on extra points.

Roth has been a serviceable linebacker in the past. Will be good depth if we sign him.

I'd rather have the undrafted kid than Rayner, to be honest.

Alderson needs to show he has fully regained his velocity. Last year, his velo was up in the first half, but dipped to mid 80s in the 2nd. He also wasn't too good when he was in AAA this year.

I think my 2013 Steelers draft dream is Manti Te'o. Yep...we're gonna go with that.

Did the Pirates just intentionally walk the go-ahead run on base in the 8th inning with only one out? It's not even like the lead runner was on 3rd either, which would at least make it a defensible decision.

EDIT: Now the next hitter walks and the bases are loaded, one out, down by run. Why the intentional walk? Is Hurdle trying to lose the game on purpose?

I think by now everyone knows who I want to see drafted next year.

Damn, Grilli bringing some high heat. K's the last two batters, Nats strand the bases loaded. 3-2 Buc's going to bottom of the 8th.
