I've been wondering about this. Our payroll was very low this season compared to the last several seasons. Face it, we were not expected to do what we did. The team's on ice accomplishments led to better attendance and presumably less ticket giveaways to get people in the building. Then we got 3 playoff homes games at I would say $2M a game in ticket revenue per game. So, how do you think the team's bottom line made out this season?

I say they lost somewhere between $1 million and $1 billion.

I remember Melynk saying they have to get to the 2nd round to make a little bit, but that was a couple years ago with a larger payroll

Eugene: “Up until this year, we had to make two rounds of playoffs just to break even,” he said in a telephone interview Thursday. “Now, we are doing well enough that we break even, pretty much, just finishing off the season, and everything else kind of gets ‘bonused’ out.”

Based on average attendance - to cover player salaries, so long as the average ticket price sold would need to be 64.40.
Obviously needs to be higher to cover front office staff, and trainers.

Since Melnyk owns the arena, parking, ticket sales company, etc... pretty sure he'll just do creative accounting whichever way benefits him most tax-wise.

Do people actually buy this? If its true (which is debateable) its just semantics. He owns capital tickets and SBP. The Sens make money every year.
