Does anyone now have the iPad 3 after having the iPad 2?

Is it worth spending the extra dough on the 3, or is the 2 good enough?

TMNT Reboot Delayed:

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/new...turtles-338301

Quote:
Paramount Pictures has shut down a planned reboot of the Ninja Turtles franchise, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. The effects-heavy film, which was in preproduction in Vancouver, was set for release in December 2013. That date is being pushed to May 2014, according to sources.

The issue is said to be the script. Paramount has delayed several big movies from this year to 2013, including G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Brad Pitt’s World War Z, leaving it with a spotty pipeline for the current year. Now it has halted work on its planned holiday movie for 2013, temporarily laying off preproduction staff and informing those prepping the film that the work stoppage is "indefinite," according to sources. Another source close to the production says the movie has been pushed by ten weeks...

If that's true, I'm a very happy geek. They better drop the alien angle and bring back the ooze!!

TCM is having a classic Japanese monster movie marathon. Watching Gojira now, followed by Rodan and then Mothra. Other interesting Japanese movies after those. My DVR is going to work hard tonight

I'm surprised they're showing the Japanese version and not the dubbed one with Raymond Burr (which is a fine movie in its own right, but it's not in the same league as the original).

I don't get TCM in HD though, so I'll just stick with my DVD collection.

Yeah, it's a bonus for sure. I can't bring myself to own these flicks as they would probably get lost in my collection. Seeing them on TV makes them a must-watch for me and ups the fun factor.

I've been debating getting the criterion version for awhile now. Do you have it?

Just checked whats on tcm tonight, monster movies are great but anyone who hasn't seen Hausu and Empire of Passion needs to stay up and watch those! Great movies!

P.S. the title screens for Rodan make me miss Nems Seto photoshops!

I'm watching TCM for the long haul tonight. Same director for each film (Ishiro Honda). Best kind of marathon, imo.

OK, I just broke down and bought The Return of Godzilla (Godzilla 1985 in the States). The US version is apparently so heavily edited, like the first film, that it's like watching an entirely new movie. I really want to see that life-size Godzilla foot in action!

from where? Last I checked there wasn't a legit version of that one available in North America (aside from old school VHS copies and iffy region free DVDs)

Mine isn't the critereon one. It's this version from Classic Media:

http://www.amazon.com/Gojira-Godzill...eywords=gojira

Has the US and Japanese cuts on separate discs, with some very nice historical commentary tracks for both versions and a few extra features.

It's a shame that Classic Media only did a handful of Godzilla releases (about 7 or 8 movies in total I think, available in a nice box set which might be out of print by now.) because they have by far had the best treatments of the material to this point. Sony on the other hand put out a bunch of flimsy releases around the time of hte US movie that offered up nothing more than a crappy dub track and no Japanese audio.

EDIT: cool that the TCM stuff is an Ishiro Honda marathon. Makes it more of a shame though that there's not more godzilla. All the best movies in the franchise were done by the holy kaiju trinity of Honda (director), Akira Ifukube (composer), and Eiji Tsubaraya (effects).

is it some kind of special anniversary for Honda? like birth/death/first movie/etc? That'd explain the seemingly odd timing of a Honda marathon.

EDIT 2: Huh, not the anniversary of his birth or death, or any of the release dates for the assorted cuts of the 1st Godzilla film.

Seller has a good rating. I'll let you know how it pans out (yeah, I know it's a bootleg, but what the heck)

$13 for international shipping? They can go to hell.

This is my DVD collection:

Missing only 3 films: Return of Godzilla, Godzilla vs Megalon and Godzilla vs Biollante, none of which are legitimately available on DVD.

Very nice, Nem!

I am normally against any and all kinds of bootlegging, but when something is not available to me, I can be a little bit more lenient. If this is indeed a bootleg, it will be my first. I have a Samsung BD-P1500 blu-ray player that is supposedly easy to unlock its DVD region via the remote, but I'll try that on a cheaper import first. Too bad it doesn't unlock for blu-ray.
