Helu > Royster

But yeah, Slaton kinda messes that formula up.

I'm pulling for Royster myself. Helu's passblocking....leaves something to be desired. Can't be more than a situational back if you can't block.

I agree, but Royster is a between the tackles guy. Helu and Slayton are good runners and recievers out of the backfield. 3rd down back type RB's.

If Slayton is added and Royster is cut then the Skins only have the rookie Morris as a between the tackles guy, and that doesn't make sense considering Shanahan's run first philosophy.

How about this ****:

John Keim‏@john_keim

#redskins MT @taniaganguli QB Beck has made the [Texans] 53-man roster said a person familiar with his status.

That means Beck made the Texans over the rookie QB out of Houston Case Keenum. Would think Keenum would be a better 3rd QB option than Beck.

No "y" in Slaton. Not sure who I prefer between Slaton or Helu. Certainly prefer Royster to either of them, but as mentioned he's a different type of RB.

Apparently RG Gettis has made the team. So LeRiebus (LG/C), Gettis (RG and maybe RT?) and Black (LT/RT) are the back up O-lineman. Hurt a possiblity as well.

And not sure why I keep putting the "Y" in there for Slayton. Guess its my thing.

The ledgend of Reed Doughty lives!

I would think the crippled Cedric Griffin works more at FS this year.

Also, Shanallenhan will go trolling for a recently cut CB.

Was hoping Briscoe was going to make the roster so glad he did.

I want to see 4 or even 5 wide often out of the gun - spread em. Its a passing league now, all the playoff QB's over 5K yds last year. Something tells me we will often be in a pro set III under center, even though we only have one injured FB. How we use III will dictate our offense, I hope we use him to his strengths often. Dare I think our WR core is our strength and suggest we finally have viable end zone threats at wideout.

I don't like our depth at T nor CB but we have a spot open so lets see where we go with it. Did the trade for Slaton go through? It seems like its stuck in rumorville but he may make up 53.

THT turns out the big surprise cut for the day.

Considering the overrall health of the RB's you might get you're wish, RH. WR is the strength of the offense, IMO. Shanahan has said they will work towards Griffin's strengths. With 3 of 4 RB's (FB included) banged up already spreading things out might be the only option. Hopefully Banks is up to the challenge and is a factor if that happens.

Garcon, Hankerson, and Briscoe on the outside and Moss, Banks, and Robinson performing different things from the inside. Morgan could also be a key. That guy can play outside and in the slot I believe. He has the quickness/moves. Mix of run, screens/reverses to slot guys, and Sleepy working the middle to set up deep passes to the outside guys.

Defense, or at least the front 7, is the strength of this team at this moment. It will have to be dominate to take pressure off an average secondary and keep the Skins in games as Griffin and the offense get rolling.

THT looked good too. But his knee was sore.

Morris looked good but didnt have to pass pro and was our only healthy back.

He may well be cut mid season the way Shanny goes through backs. I certainly see him 3rd on the depth chart with all at full health. Shanny runs a system that almost any back can look good.

The trade didn't materialize. MIA claimed Armstrong yesterday on waivers and then cut Slaton. Maybe the Skins will claim him today? They claimed CB Crezdon Butler for their open spot yesterday.

Willie Smith was claimed by OAK & Markus White signed with TB.

Worthington, Compton and Emmanuel Arceneaux added to the PS.

Thought I read somewhere that Shanahan liked the RBs he had on this team. And who do you cut to sign Slayton? WR looks like the only position the Skins can spare to cut from and I'd rather they didnt.

Another angle to consider is the Skins are waiting till after week 1 to sign Slayton so his contract isn't garunteed.
