I have no problems with the Cousins pick. 2nd/3rd round talent taken in the 4th, that will provide good depth between RG3, and speed up the departure of Sexy Rexy from the roster. Win/Win IMO.
And if anyone thinks adding Cousins creates a QB controversy in DC, well they are smoking something they shouldn't.
Massie was never in consideration. He can't play the zone blocking system. Not agile enough. And WR was never going to be a targeted position. We have like 8 on the roster.
Cousins wouldn't have been my pick, but at the end of the day, our five biggest depth needs were: OT, OG, ILB, CB, and S. And we got at least one guy at every one of those positions.
It doesn't bother me that we used 3 picks on QB. It was by far our weakest position and it's by far the most important position. I'm not saying it would have been my choice, but it's understandable.
I don't think it's understandable at all to use three picks on a QB. Only one can play at a time.
And the Massie reasoning is completely bunk.
From the Scouts, Inc. scouting report:

Quick enough to get into position and drives legs. Footwork could be crisper but has lateral mobility and balance to develop into an effective zone blocker.

You read it so it must be true...got it.

I am still a bit miffed about taking the QB. There was value sure. Good player, etc but I still don't see the need for a 4th spent to get a 3rd stringer. I guess he is just insurance, or maybe they think he can beat out Rex.
I wonder what 3 thinks about it, but we know what he will say.
I would rather that pick have gone to the OL; or to get a S. We already committed to the kid, so lets roll. That's why I like Rex, no backup QB drama.
Cousins is a fine pick, I suppose. Best case he gets into some preseason games and some regular season games (if RGIII were to get injured) and shows enough that other teams want him and the Skins trade him for a higher pick(s) ala Kevin Kolb. Worst case in my mind is that he is a decent backup. Hell, it could also serve as more motivation for RGIII. I would have liked to pick up a corner earlier in the draft, I liked Brandon Boykin a lot and was pissed he went to the Eagles.
Didn't really know any of the other players that were selected. Looks like we got some solid Oline depth, hope some of those players develop into some starters down the road.
@Massie can't play in a zbs. Complete BS. He has the athleticism and quickness, I was stunned we passed on him. Jammal Brown was another guy people said couldn't play in a zbs.
Tom Compton is a nice get though, raw but an ideal fit.
