Pierre McGuire has a MASSIVE hard on for Mac.

I'm fully convinced that he will be the best player on this team not named Lundqvist as soon as next season.

man that Gomez deal is a hoot. Turned this team around

1) Gomez money used on Gaborik
2) McDonaugh is a stud
3) Higgins in the deal ends up being dealt with Kotalk(lol) for UFA Jokinen and the ever so gritty current Ranger Brandon Prust

The best thing about McD is that he has the most offensive potential of the Girardi-Staal trio and is probably the best defensively of the three right now.

His offensive potential is barely scratched. I really think he could be a 45-50 point player. If he does become that, he would be our best player not named Lundqvist. Someone who's an elite defender who's also top-10 in scoring among defensemen would be a perennial All-Star.

Right now, McDonagh, Girardi, and Staal are all playing at about the same level. All-Star level.....3 defenseman...none over the age of 27....all with cap friendly contracts for next year. *DROOOOOOOOL*

These are the faces of the men that made this incredible turn of events possible.

Gaze for too long at your own peril. Loss of competent ability or performance at one's job is a possible side effect.

Seriously, McDonagh is the best defenseman on the team, or will be very soon. He's the best defenseman we've had since Leetch. He's above average at almost everything except offense, and I think he will manage that soon enough.

There's a reason I said the Rangers would have the best defense in the last few decades...

My mind can't understand how Gomez turned into McDonagh. I cannot process it.

For all those that ripped us about the Gomez signing--this deal wouldn't have possible without a couple years of his ho hum but somewhat credible play. That signing turned out better than Drury or Redden anyway.

It shouldn't be that hard to figure out:

That, or certain photos were involved.

McDonagh has the best chance to win a Norris for us down the line. He is my favorite player with Stepan and Chris K(was a fan before being drafted).

All are smart, responsible players that anticipate well.

We deserved this after some of the horrendous trades this franchise has made in its history.

Rick Middleton anyone.

McDonagh on the all-star roster next season. Book it.

Whenever he has the puck I feel safe, like when I was a little boy and my mommy used to rub my tummy and go naaaah naaah nah nah naaaah...

I laugh every time I think about the Habs including him in their trade for Adam Sandler.

McDonagh's game most reminds me of Mark Howe with his exceptional skating ability. Combine that with his offensive skills and defensive instincts, and he could very well be that perennial Norris-caliber Puck RUSHING Defenseman who can control the tempo of a game, that the Rangers have lacked since Brian Leetch.

Trading for McD erases those bad memories of dealing away Sergei Zubov and Mattias Norstrom in futile attempts to keep up with the Flyers and Devils adding bulk up front during the mid-90s to contend in the Atlantic Division.

But again, not sure that whole scenario was confirmed.
From what I recall it was "We like another player on X team but can't get him, if you get him it's a done deal". Ottawa wanted McD. Then, I think they got greedy and wanted Dubinsky in addition to whatever else we were offering, and the deal was off.

Could you imagine Heatley on this team, with the Rangers' speed and his awful skating? Thank goodness.

If I remember correctly, Sather's offer was Roszival, Zherdev and the 2010 #1 pick.

Suter is a great comparison.

McDonagh is (or will be) a better skating Suter.

McDonagh is amazing but Staal was better or just as good as him defensively in the first round.
Girardi and Staal both played excellent defensively in the first round with Staal particularly effective in the 7th game. The thing with McDonagh is his skating and stick handling skills are so superior that the plays he makes look routine in nature.

I really don't know what some of you see in him. Yeah, he occasionally makes a good play, but he's a turnover machine and he is constantly making bad plays in the defensive zone.

Please tell me this post is not serious. Then again, you were calling for Tort's head after Game 2 of the regular season.
