No I'm not, he had a good play.

But kicked in a goal, he actually did, puck wasn't across the line

And wasn't getting back when capitals were forecheking

You can NOT compare the kicked goal with MDZ's kicked goal.. that goal was on Hank. McD consistently bailed us out tonight.

Yeah hank should have never left the goal... But McDonagh and stralman didn't even go after the puck at all. And chimera beat both of them to the puck while they coasted

Excuse him for not knowing where the puck was while he was doing what hockey players do, skating.

You cant win with this fanbase.

He had some gaffs, but also had some really nice plays. I'd say he was about even on the mistake-o-meter. I have a hard time blaming him for kicking that puck in. Nobody even knew where the thing was.

On the upside, his puck movement and skating in the offensive zone was stellar. Get this kid on the freaking PP already. There's honestly no reason he should be left off of it at this point.

Yes yes yes....Gabby on the half wall, McD at the point, Richards on the other wall, Stepan down low and in front for nasty deflections, and Hagelin or Kreider raising hell in the corners. I've had enough of watching our most potent offensive player (Gabby) stand idly beside the net while Richards and MDZ wing shots wide or into defender's shins. Torts changes the lines up every other shift, except when it comes to the least effective part of their game.

I'd be more strongly in favor of this if he wasn't so picky about shooting the puck. He'll have a lane, but he just keeps skating, goofing around with the puck, trying to force plays that aren't there.

I don't think he's picky about shooting. I think he's smart about it. Sometimes a shooting lane might appear to someone sitting in the stands, but it's not the same for the guy with the puck on his stick.

sometimes the forward is further up the ice and gets to the goal line before the D. The goalie simply needs to move the puck to the corner. It's an easy play. Hank messed it up. Only he deserves blame for that goal.

actually he had a very good game and was unfortunate enough to be on the ice while others like Hank made an awful mistake.

Assuming you are talking about Marc, McD is 2 and a half years younger than Staal. They were drafted 2 years apart.

90% sure he's referring to when he puck went in off his heel, which even Buddha would not have been able to avoid.

I think he's 3 years younger; people seem to forget that. The bottom line is he has a higher ceiling than Staal does going forward.

I really think next season McD will be running the PP, I get voted down but at this stage of his career he compares favorably to Brian leetch, not as offensive but certainly better defensively...

The way I see it McDonagh doesn't get the same criticism as Girardi, MDZ, and now Staal have received (which they didn't deserve BTW) because he hasn't been bad long enough to warrant the criticism. He can be bad one game, or great the next, or have a good game with a mistake and someone will blow up about it. I'm not going to worry about a horrible turnover and a puck bouncing off his skate happening in Game 2 of Round 2, now the Stanley Cup Finals would be a different story.

Right now I think McDonagh, Girardi and Staal are kind of equal. I expect Staal to be better next year. Girardi is a beast too and I think lots of people underestimate what he does. But i've said it a few times already I believe that McDonagh is going to turn out the best of the lot--he's only frigging 22 years old.
Agree with all of this. We are barely scratching the surface of what game McD can bring. I think a few years down the road people could be looking back in awe at the small expectations we had for him.

At this point I fully expect McD to be an elite D man and the class of our solid blue line.
