Well he has already said he is a talented bottom 6 guy and will compete for a job in training camp. That basically just says if hes good enough he can stay but if not he will be in the AHL.

One thing is for sure, the bottom 6 battles, the goalie battles, and the one, maybe two, spots open on the 2nd line battles are going to be amazing this year. Great great competition.

4-7-11 in 32 games with Columbus... could be great value in the same mold as Pyatt.

Im sure he saw something there he liked. No way he brings in that contract for no reason. Could probably be a 20-30 point 3rd/4th liner which would be a welcomed thing.

And as I said before, the more competition the better.

Wilson is an interesting case, really. Just looking at his stats (NHL career: 4 goals and 13 points in 39 games) he wasn't exactly bad for a 3rd/4th liner but for some reason he couldn't stick. He has lots of AHL experience as he was part of the Hershey Bears from 2006 to 2010 (2 regular season titles, 2 Calder Cup wins). The few clips of him on YouTube are... promising.

Could be suffering from Blair Jones syndrome, just becoming largely ineffective for stretches.

How's this look boys? http://www.capgeek.com/cap-calculato...er.php?id=6608 One trade thread eluded to the fact that NYR would do Del Zotto straight up for Connolly.. I'd do it for sure. Grab Wideman, sign Moore back and we are looking pretty solid moving forward. Just toying around with some ideas.

Blues will not resign Carlo Colaiacovo and they want resign Barret Jackman. So, Colaiacovo would be fit in our jersey. We need to upgrade our defense. I'd like to sign Suter (dream) and Garrison. If we sign these two, Garrison and Colaiacovo, I'd be very happy

Garrison - Hedman
Brewer - Colaiacovo
Aulie - Lee
Bergeron

If we traded Connolly for MDZ I'd like us to move Brewer, for a RHD.

Anyone even think about Rozival from Pheonix as an option?

This is the guy i wanted us to get, especially after seeing him in the playoffs, but i really don't see how we will get any of the top couple of D men in this free agency just because of how few there are. The prices are going to go way up because so many teams are trying to get a few guys.

If we could get 1 or 2 more Tommy Pyatt's or Nate Thompson's I'd be a happy ****ing camper.

Boy if you could get Zotto for Connolly, it would be big for the bolts. Connolly is one of those pieces we have that can be moved without hurting us. If this were to happen, I would be ecstatic. Del Zotto would be one hell of a defender to get.

Hopefully not. Yzerman HAS to sign at least one of Suter/Garrison/Schultz.

I'd like to see us go after Garrison, Hjarmalsson, Orpik, and Suter. If we could somehow get Del Zotto like mentioned above, that would be fantastic.

I hope not. Suter is great but will be a crippling contract going forward and wants to stay out west. Garrison will cost ridiculous amounts of money for a slightly better version of MAB and Schultz, whilst being legal in the CBA, seems to think he can pick and choose who he plays for early on in his career. Don't want that sort of character around.

Love the idea of Hjalmarson (sp?) on our blue line. No doubt SFY will find another top 4 d-man. I have faith in the Yzerplan.

What about Jordan Leopold from Buffalo? I think Buffalo may look at moving him and he's a capable, puckmoving top 4.

They want something around Malone for him, bout Malone would waive and if he did would cause a hole in our top 6.

I'd be disappointed if we went after Garrison. I'm not convinced he's not just a one-season wonder.

He might never score as many goals again (he's really a 2-way defenseman that excels in the transition game and establishing/maintaining puck possession) but Garrison isnt a fluke. The advanced metrics show he's been used--and very successful--as a top-4 the past couple seasons. He seems to be a proverbial late-bloomer and reminds me of a more talented and versatile Nolan Pratt.

We all know that you 'overpay' when you acquire guys in their prime via FA. Is Garrison worth it? Yes, IMO, if you recognize his strengths help the point totals of others and not really himself and that the D will need another addition (ideally in the off-season but at the trade deadline at the latest) to contend.

I'm talking 5-on-5. Much more significant.
