Dustin Brown definitely was, up until recently.

Can we stay on topic, please?

I agree. But Kopitar and Doughty turned it up against the Coyotes and if they have a good finals, they could end up slitting votes with Brown.

And sorry, it's hard to talk draft now with playoff hockey going on, especially when our first is almost certainly going to be forfeited.

Here's a question, if it's NOT forfeited, who are we taking?

Brodeur already answered that question on the previous page, but since we`re busy discussing Conn Smythe candidates...

I have no idea who we'd take in the unlikely event we keep the pick. Since we are still in the playoffs, I haven't been paying any attention to the draft.

No idea. I was really pumped on Teravainen back before we made the second round, but it seems like the analysts are finally getting sold on him and expecting a top 10 pick. I take it there's still not much of a chance Koekkoek would fall to us, right?

If we win tonight, I think we sacrifice at 29/30 just my thought.

27-29/30 isn't a big difference anyway, the pick was gone by any reasonable expectation when we beat the Flyers. I'm surprised none of our crack reporters have made a nuisance of themselves already asking Lou if he would forefit the pick. God knows, Chere already has too much time to fabricate stuff for his attendance meme.

I'm under the impression that if we win the Cup, we have 30th. If we lose the Cup, 29th. If we lose to the Rangers, 28th since our record was better than the Coyotes.

I think we forfeit this pick at this point regardless of what happens, unless Lou and Conte have labeled a player in the 20-35 range as an under the radar top notch player that we can trade up for. Kind of like what we did with Josefson, IIRC.

Lou has a a day or two to investigate teams' willingness to trade down. While the 30th overall pick might not be all that enticing, if we can package the 30th + our 2nd or something to move up to take a top goalie, who knows?

TG did ask, Lou said he wouldn't discuss it and no decision has been made.

I guess that was just a kinder way of going status quo lol.

btw, our pick would be 27 if we lose, not 28 since division winners automatically get higher picks and Phoenix won a division. Stupid but true.

Thanks for clarification.

Kind of silly. Division winners are guaranteed worse draft picks but aren't guaranteed home ice in the Cup finals.

I never knew that before this year either, never had any real reason to worry about where we drafted until the Kovy penalty lol.

If there was ever any doubt, it's erased now. Dump the pick, don't look back.

Odds are we won't pick 29th or 30th next year or the year after that. If Lou's mentality when drafting is to take the BPA, we'll have a better situation in the next 2 years then we'll have this year.

Forfeit!

From guaranteed losing a pick.

To winning a lottery.

To forfeiting a first-rounder-thats-basically-a-second-rounder.

Devils.

The only reason I could see them keeping the pick a. they had someone they really liked. Like Lou liked Gomez at the end of the '03 first rd. or b. because they traded #2 (for all intents 86'ing draft day).

It looks like 2012 draft is wiped out. I still hate Betman for this.
