Can't as he's making less than $3M. Might be worth a regular buyout though.

Speaking of Buyouts, last year of the Barker one, and next year is the last one from Parrish.

It's worth it just for the contract spot IMO. Can't recall if it's 1/2 or 2/3 pay as I thought there was some fine print, but a tiny cap hit to open up a spot...not bad.

I've been saying that I knew Brodin would be with Suter before long. Didn't think it would be this fast, though!

According to Capgeek it's 2/3, but can't be bought out until 6/15. It would save $566,667 in 13/14 (and open a spot) but cost $283,333 in 14/15.

Buyout Cap Hit:

2013-14: $258,333
2014-15: $283,333

Does he call Heatley Heater?? I can't remember..seems like the older/more respected the player the more he uses their names.

Mikko, Zach...actually he does call Suter "soots".

Gotta love those hockey names. Best by far is Butch for PMB

Yea. Butch and Heater are the only somewhat original names if you take out Bacon.

Brodin looked great again tonight..so poised. So smooth. So good defensively minus one minor lapse almost turning the puck over directly in front of Backstrom..rebounded nicely though. 20 solid minutes of TOI with a nice shot on net that resulted in a rebound that lead to Gilbert's goal and got him an assist as the cherry on top.

Was only able to catch a bit of this game before I went to see San Jose VS Anaheim, but I saw that slight misplay that ended up in a goal for Brodin. That was just random puck luck (and yet another example of ringing it around the boards failing, we might finally have the skilled D to play the boards to our advantage in a few years), but I have noticed him make some slightly wrong decisions under duress. He has been phenomenal though and still shows signs of improving on the small adjustments to forecheck pressure at NHL speeds. By far the best defensive rookie this year from what I have seen of the major guys.

He reminds me more of Pietrangelo when it comes to positioning and his smart, but aggressive decision making than anyone else currently in the league. He's not afraid to pinch and play the body because he knows how to win or break even on those battles every time, if he continues to develop his physical and mental tools I think he will be a force in this league.

Not trying to be that guy, but the Brodin rebound in the first was picked up by Mikko then he scored.
