BTW, why didn't Parise get an assist on that goal? He did hit the puck with his skate after the rebound, didn't he?

No, the puck went off Mason's pad and in the net. Parise never touched it.

Before that, the rebound from Brodin's shot. It hit Parise's skate, which stopped the puck almost completely, allowing Koivu to pick it up easily.

I gotta be honest....."Bacon" might be the worst nickname I've ever heard.

Besides, why does he even need a nickname? Just "Brodin" sounds MUCH better than "Bacon"....

He used to eat bacon for every game when he played in Sweden.

I would guess that bacon is not the most common pre-game meal. And besides, Bacon is an awesome nickname in my opinion.

Want to pinch myself. This kid is the real deal.

Also noteworthy? Brodin is the first 1st rounder to make an NHL impact since........................Brent Burns in 2003. Wow that shocking.

Providence is right....this IS this a Minnesota thing where we feel the need to give all our players a nickname.

PS....JoBro sounds better than Bacon, IMO.

Names like Brodzy, Stoney, Granny, etc. happen all around the world of hockey...not just in Minnesota. For whatever reason it's a hockey culture thing.

Zachzy, Sutzy, Backzy?

Yeah, I know that players have a tendency to do that....it's kind of a familiarity thing, and it probably makes it easier to communicate on the ice...Never really heard fans do the same, though.

And I've never heard a member of the Wild can Brodin "bacon".

You may be right that it might be more of a Minnesota thing though because I think Gardy does the same thing with Morneausie, Blacky, etc.

Brodin is starting to make me believe he is ready now, after last nights game. I never had any doubt he was the real deal. I figured it would be at least until he could legally buy a pint at The Liffey before we saw this kind of poise from him. With the way he played paired up with Suter and the chemistry between Gilbert and Stoner our top four could actually get pretty interesting when Spurgeon comes back.
The other surprise with Brodin is more silly, but it is about his jersey number. I'm surprised he isn't rocking the #5 like his hockey hero Lidstrom. Maybe he feel obligated to redeem #25 based on the "players" we had the number in the past.
Sergei Krivokrasov (2000-02)
Rickard Wallin (2002-04)
Randy Robitaille (2005-06)
Eric Belanger (2007-10)
Cam Barker (2010-11)
Nick Johnson (2011-12)

PS- The Liffey has the best reuben sandwich I've ever had. Thick cut juicy corned beef. You ever need a pre or post game meal go there and order that. No I'm not affiliate with them in any way. Just like a good sandwich.

Yea i noticed that too and watched the play a couple more times on gamecenter and it definitely looked like it hit him. I'm surprised they didn't change the assists after the fact. At least it was Suter that got the point instead.

More complete game than Burns, RIGHT NOW! So glad Fletch had the sense not to pay-up for BB. SJS has not gotten their money's worth outof him thus far.

I've never had one at the Liffey but if you're a big fan of reubens go to Kramarczuk's in Northeast Minneapolis.

Glad to see Brodin is making an impact for you guys, big fan of his.

What do you think his offensive impact will be this season? I figure if he's paired with Suter, he's bound to get some offensive chances, and likely #1/2 PP time.
