That would take a solid coach, something to which GMGM is diametrically opposed. I was watching this game tonight and marveling at how LA clears the zone by actually mixing it up a little. Sometimes up the boards, sometimes (gasp) with an interior pass, etc. As opposed to the Caps, where opponents overload one side of the ice knowing exactly how we will try to clear the zone. That game winning goal was an example of Williams not even having to think about what he would do with the puck, he knew exactly where Kopitar should and would be. That play was drawn up and practiced.

Actually, the Capitals in the late 70's practiced at the Fort Dupont Ice Rink on 37th Street and Ely Place in SEDC (that other side of the Anacostia River). That's not the greatest of areas now, but it was quite bad in the late 70's and early 80's. Alot of folks that would come there to use the rink for hockey practice or games especially in the evenings, had their cars broken into as well as sometimes being victims of robberies.

Don't know the history behind why the Capitals chose to practice at such a location. The facilities at the time were relatively new so they were in great shape, not sure what else was around town at that time to accomodate the Capitals. Wouldn't be surprised that Abe Polin wanted them to practice there as he was very community oriented.

I don't understand how a professional hockey team could practice in a facility with such tiny locker rooms. Otherwise, as of a couple of years ago, Dupont was still a decent facility, with some of the best ice in the area... but damn the locker rooms were small.

Tarasenko to sign with the Blues. Signing Russians = hard work.

Guess Tarasenko wasn't threatened by the Russian Federation.

This isn't news. When you get married at 19, you're ****ing stupid. If you're a professional athlete who does so, you're twice an idiot.

Sykora (the lesser) syndrome. The lights at the show are just too bright.

Seriously, GMGM if Kuzya hasn't signed with Traktor yet, ****ing start pointing out the fact it will be safer here in America, the planes are better, the crime is lesser, and the fact Chelyabinsk is pretty dirty, high cancer rates, high amounts of birth defects(tell this to him to tell his wife).

Tell him come to a cup contender, and in 10-15 years he has the pick of KHL teams to play with to win the Gagarin cup.

****ing boom hes signed.

Even if McPhee convinces him to come over, it's going to be tough to convince another team he's really coming, so I don't see trading his rights as a great idea right now.

Eh, he's worth it. He's more of a franchise defenseman than anyone the Caps have.

Hey brah why spend all that money on a #1 defenseman like Doughty when you can use it to pay Semin to bring half that offense in the playoffs?

Once you become a lacrosse bro you will understand too.

Perhaps more fitting now as the theme for the off-season.

I think there's some sour grape syndrome going on around here. Kuz decides to stay in Russia for a couple of years, so suddenly some "fans" think he's somehow deficient/lazy/non-competitive. I think it's just fans taking the rejection a little too hard. Anyone with a decent brain wants him here.

The way that Kings defense got the puck center of the ice was about to be pressured and threw a pass to a guy in front of him makes me so depressed. Caps dmen would just ice it throw it over the glass.
