This makes me feel a bit better about getting owned by Phoenix in the regular season. They're legit. Also, this shows how overrated Bryz is. I thought he was getting too much flack for playing bad against Detroit in the playoffs but judging by how badly he's playing in Philly too, I think he's just not a big game goaltender. Smith playing out of his mind doesn't help Bryz's cause either.
I might give a lot of credit to Burke(goaltending coach), he found a way to make Bryz look decent for a bit, though Smith seems to be much better when it matters.
Just like the Sharks weren't a #7 seed? They were stifled by trapping teams all year. Only a few occasions were they able to get them to open up.
They outright broke phoenix's trap, outshooting them in every game including a 42-shot effort in Phoenix. You may not remember how those games went but the Sharks dominated offensive zone time against Phoenix this season. They did not successfully trap us. St Louis was the only team that had much success trapping us this season.
Getting a team to "open up" the trap is not the same thing as beating the trap, if a trap teams opens up, it is no longer trapping.
Random underdog team that gets picked to lose every round but keeps on going. And like all those other teams they will eventually lose to a more skilled team in the finals; who I think will be the Flyers in the Stanley Cup.
