Points well taken. While it may be simply less TOI, but I think I see less lackluster efforts, less... dumb lets say. Sure his positioning, defensive awareness etc need work, but at least I see effort now. Not circling the far blue, he is inside our blue. Sure BB had him stretch the ice perhaps playing to his strengths, but in the end... we lost. And many theorized if Ovi was gassed at times.
Tonights win coupled with his low TOI should trigger a decent discussion in hockey circles. Dale and Ovi should be getting respect.
Not only is he playing beastly, he's playing with an edge.
Did you see him try to knock someone on his ass for getting close to Holtby?
WHEN HAVE WE EVER SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THAT FROM OUR DMEN?
And last game, Ovi headlocking Staal and throwing him on the ice for poking Holtby.
WHO IS THIS TEAM!?!?
+1 on seeing Carlson playing with an edge tonight. After a few whistles and penalties, the officials were getting in between him and rags.
He earned us the late PP which some may call the win. That penalty is a tough sell tied playoff game late in the 3rd on the road, he drew it and maybe even sold it hook line and sinker. We have not had players smart enough let alone willing to try to work the dumb refs (well.. Semin). We seemed due a PP, hello, give the dumb refs a chance to call it.
I am thrilled Holtby bounced back with a solid win tonight.
