I guess I'm one of the only ones who thought the Blues carried the play and that the Kings need to play much better tonight.

I thought the momentum shifted a couple of times. The Kings played well from the last 5 minutes of the 1st period on to the end of the game. Definitely some times when the Blues were able to get some zone time, but overall a good performance in periods 2 and 3.

The Blues were still able to get us pinned in and generate scoring chances. They must do better at clearing the puck the whole game.

Looks (according to the Blues game day thread) that Pietrangelo won't play.

Pietrangelo is a great player no doubt, but I do not understand the Blues fans being so pessimistic without him. Cole is not a BAD player, still a decent defenseman, and their blueline lacks star power, but still has PLENTY of depth. Even minus Pieterangelo this is a good damn Blues team.

Honestly I was hoping for the split in STL, so if Kings lose this one I am not overly concerned, obviously a win would be HUGE, but a loss in not the end of the world is all I'm saying.

Pieterangelo is going to miss the game and they're going to kick our ass without him. I can see it already.

Said this on the main board but the Petro situation scares me either way. Hoping they don't rally around the injury. Kings need to take advantage while they can.

The whining on the main board makes me long for the days of talking to Canuck fans.

Evidence that he has been watching this series. Carter and Richards are nowhere to be seen

I think the Kings will be more diligent about boxing guys out from the crease area, which will also help keep Quick's vision clear for point shots. The Blues will probably emphasize backchecking more considering the way they coasted back to their zone in game 1. Overall I think we see a tighter, tougher game tonight.

It will still be difficult. Flyers were supposed to walk over the Penguins without James Neal.

Kings must take advantage of the pp tonight. Alex eats up a lot of PK minutes.

30 minutes to go.

It's not like the blues are going to forget how to play hockey without Alex. Still a solid NHL team playing at home.

Kings will have to play a stronger 60 minute game tonight if they want to win.

Hitchcock said to the press that everyone thinks it's an upper body injury, but it's not, it's "somewhere between the middle and lower" or something along those lines. Maybe groin? If that's the case I bet it had nothing to do with the hit.

EDIT: here's the quote:
Quote:
"It's not an upper. It's between the middle and lower," he said. "You've got it in the wrong place." When he was reminded that he was the one who reported it as an upper-body injury, Hitchcock laughed.

"Did I? (Darn) coaches, they lie all the time," he said. "I changed my mind. Get the dogs off the scent."

If you're really quiet, you can actually hear Blues fans crying all the way from St. Louis. Just know that it's easy to mistake their cries with the sound of cats mating.

On TSN after last game (or CBC last night, hell I can't remember too much hockey) they were saying that it "may" have happened on the Greene goal when Pieterangelo and Shattenkirk collided taking out Brown during the rush and that he knee/groin/hip might have twisted awkardly on that play...maybe they were right.

I think the Boarding call/non call is a non-issue. He was skating fine on the next play. He didn't' make a good play but he looked fine. I wonder he has some sort of ab or hip problem. I even though maybe he hurt his neck.

Composure, eh.

With the way we've played at home, we can't afford to come back to Staples 1-1. We need to take advantage of these road games where we play our best hockey.
