Quote:
April 14, 2010 -- In Game 1 of the ECQF at NJ, Brian Boucher made 23 saves and was named the game's top star in a 2-1 win. It was Boucher's first PO start in eight years and his most recent victory was May 20, 2000, a gap of 9 years and 329 days which represented the third longest stretch in NHL history (Jim “Sugar” Henry went 10 years and 1 day between wins [1942-52] and Sean Burke went 9 years, 347 days [1988-1998]). The Flyers' PK went 5-for-5, each minor to a defenseman including a double minor to Oskars Bartulis in the third period, and the last time the Flyers played a PO game without a forward committing an infraction was in the same game Boucher last won (Game 4 at NJ in 2000). The Flyers were outshot 24-14 including 9-2 in the third period. Chris Pronger, who played a game-high 30:01, snapped a second period scoreless tie with a PPG. Mike Richards (1-1-2) made it 2-0 off a terrific pass from Ian Laperriere with 3:33 left in the second period. Travis Zajac scored NJ's lone goal with 2:43 to play. After the game, Danny Briere said “There’s a piece of furniture behind you guys that took a pretty good beating” a reference to a soda machine supposedly thrashed by head coach Peter Laviolette between the first and second periods. Sergei Bobrovsky made his first start since February 12 and stopped 27 shots. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eZ6ljqEDfA

Zach Parise (1-1-2) scored 3:16 into the game. NJ took the first 11 shots of the game and held a 15-6 advantage through the opening period as the Flyers showed rustiness in not having played in a week. Briere and James van Riemsdyk (also +3) scored 37 seconds apart to give Philly a 2-1 lead in the second period. Claude Giroux made it 3-2 on a PP early in the third period but Petr Sykora tied the score with 8:38 to play. The Flyers held a 36-26 shots advantage including 30-11 after the first period. They need to come out and emotionally get into this game.

I'm looking for you Hartnell. Physically get involved in this series. Make it hard for them. Make sure you get Simmonds to start getting involved as well. These guys need to start banging bodies on the forecheck. Stop with the skill plays. Get back to the meat and potatoes.

They were super soft yesterday.

Have the Flyers thrown a hit this series? I'd really like Rinaldo's physicality, but I don't know who they sit. Wellwood's played well.

No need for changes.
Rinaldo is not useful.
Foot on their throats.

I think the Flyers will take care of business tomorrow night. 4-2 final (fourth goal comes on an empty net). Let's Go Flyers!

Strange things happen
it is springtime in Philly
Bryz with a shutout

I suck at haikus, so this is probably way off.

They better realize that the Debbies won't just roll over and let them cruise to the ECF.
It's going to be a tough road....

While maybe not the best, I thought that Wellwood played with the most aggression of all Flyer forwards during game two. Would like to see the rest of the skaters equal his intensity.

And we need to overcome the Devils’ forecheck, although I don’t know the answer to that. Hopefully Lavi does, and his players implement it.

In any case, up the desire to where it was during much of the first round, and we are pretty unbeatable. Let’s see it, men!

Play like we play when we play.

Play with jam, and victory will be guaranteed.

Today's practice update: Ilya Kovalchuk is skating on the fourth line with Ryan Carter and Stephen Gionta. Harrold could be scratch if Kovalchuk plays.
