BlackBerry 10 L-Series gets a early hands-on teardown

BlackBerry 10 L-Series gets a early hands-on teardown:

http://crackberry.com/blackberry-10-...hands-teardown

Full capacitive touch-screen, we were informed that the keyboard version would most likely come out a month after.

Dual core processor with an pristine IPS display

Two colors: white + black. The white looks awesome, way better than the iPhone 5 which I am currently testing.

Front camera with video chat feature like team view. Besides being able to see each other through the front camera, it can also show the screen of the person you are talking too.

Camera with auto-focus can take pictures at the speed of 1shot/second, then you can choose the best one.

Time view function. For 1 picture, it could save up to 10 facial expressions of any person, they you can scroll back and forth to view and choose the best one.

Research In Motion CEO Thorsten Heins has been hinting that BlackBerry 10 will capitalize on the strengths of the QNX operating system:

For those that are interested you can turn the Viewer Comments off under 'Options'. That way you only see posts from the Blogers and not the viewers.

Updates / Highlights

Make no mistakes. We'll have all the features. Great camera. Wait until you see the web browser... killer fast browsing experience. Already leads in HTML5 tests. Already #1 even ahead of desktop browsers and we're focused on keeping that spot.

No one should have to launch an app. What you want should always just be there. Shouldn't have to worry about what to launch next. Should be able to flow between experiences.

What you see in BlackBerry is the best of the best." RIM is working with partners who are the best to bring it into the platform

With BlackBerry 10 we changed one major approach. Partnership.

Carriers are also excited. They support BlackBerry 10. They have said, it's beyond their expectations. It's different and better. They're expressing their commitment to BlackBerry 10

We're just a few months away. BlackBerry 10 is on track. Our sales forces are getting ready

Carrier testing will start next month.

$10000 developer guarantee program.

I saw the demo on the verge; the OS looks good (bits of webOS, QNX, Meego, WP8), but the nagging question will be app support.

I went down that "well, it has potential" route with webOS..., and in the end, there's only so much that can be done with a browser. Even though I don't like Android that much on tablets, I haven't bothered to leave CM9 in months.

Either that, or RIM is going to have to a lot of initial footwork in-house. It's a crowed marketplace, and they're still have to compete against the mind and marketshare of Android and Apple.

Yeah developer support is a key, I guess that's why they're currently offering developers that $10,000 guarantee program:

http://www.engadget.com/2012/05/01/r...ertified-apps/

Also they do have a head start as all PlayBook Apps will work on BlackBerry 10 & the PlayBook will be able to upgrade to the BlackBerry 10 OS for free.

I have been following the BB Jam conference on Crackberry too. The new OS looks sweet! Delaying the release of the BB10 phones might be the best decision RIM has made in a while. I think the phones will have a solid release because RIM fanboys like Neely and me have been waiting to upgrade.

It does look good but I am keeping my excitement tempered until I have one in my hand to really look it over.

I really hope with Blackberry 10 they can find a way to bring Netflix to Blackberry. If they can, I'm 100% on Blackberry and will ditch my iPhone. I love my Playbook already, so having a Blackberry device would be awesome.

The real test will be the USA market. BlackBerry is still very strong in Canada, UK, Africa, Asia... but there seems to be a lot of animosity towards BlackBerry in the USA. RIM/BlackBerry really need to overcome that as the USA is obviously a key market.

Apparently RIM has gone as far as to offer to make a BlackBerry PlayBook App for Netflix but Netflix has turned them down repeatedly. Hopefully they can convince them once BlackBerry 10 comes out as the PlayBook will also be upgraded to the BlackBerry 10 OS.

Hands-on with BlackBerry 10 running on Dev Alpha B Hardware!

Yes that's the promotional video.

There are quite a few pictures from the video in this article too:

At first glance it does look a lot like the Bold 9900 but if you look closer you'll see that the Middle Row with the 4 Buttons (Green Phone, BlackBerry, Back, Red Phone) & the Trackpad aren't there. This allows the Touchscreen to be bigger.
