Two days ago I read on CrackBerry.com that there was an update of BlackBerry App World and was wondering if anyone has been able to download it yet? I haven't seen the change log icon appear on my Bold 9780 and the update hasn't come yet when I resest App World by pressing ALT + RST. I'm thinking of doing a battery pull in a few days if I still don't get the update because in the past when doing that it's then showed when my Apps had a new version to download.
Yes I got the notification and downloaded it a couple days ago. Try going into BlackBerry App World on your phone and then into My World. Then switch the dropdown from Installed to Upgrades.

I just tried that and it still doesn't mention the update in the upgrade section.

I just tried a battery pull which has worked for me in the past when getting notification of updates to my apps and still nothing.

Just thought I'd mention that when I started up my Playbook today, the update showed up, so it's definitely available for the masses. I'm not really familiar with BB phones, so I don't know if this applies to the phones or if it will help, but I did have a separate Marketplace issue with my Playbook, and refreshing my apps list fixed it.

Try downloading appworld through your phone's browser. I believe the address is www.blackberry.com/appworld/download this will tell you what the current version is and the version you have. Usually works for me.
Awesome! Really excited to see how the new phones play out. Personally, I believe that there still is hope with RIM but it's going to be interesting. They need to convince users they should go with the BB10 phones over the Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II and the iPhone 5. It won't be easy.
BBM Voice includes a number of convenient features.
Customers can initiate a BBM Voice call directly, or instantly switch from a BBM text chat to talk, and back again.
The split-screen feature allows customers to talk and text at the same time, so for example, they can send a picture to their contact while talking with them. They can also check other BBM text chats, check email, or navigate to other apps while engaged on a BBM Voice call.
BBM provides a visual indicator that shows when contacts are available for a voice call.
BBM Voice is compatible with any accessories a customer has now for making voice calls on their BlackBerry smartphone, such as a Bluetooth® or wired headset. Customers can also use BBM Voice over their BlackBerry smartphone's speakerphone.
If it's not an ideal time to talk, customers can simply choose to respond by texting back.
Another important feature of BBM version 7 is its integration with a customer's BlackBerry ID, which is designed to back up their BBM profile, groups and contacts so they can automatically be restored in the event they switch to a new BlackBerry smartphone, including to a BlackBerry® 10 device.
BBM version 7 with the new BBM Voice feature is currently available in Beta for BlackBerry smartphones running the BlackBerry® 6 OS or higher with support planned for smartphones running the BlackBerry 5 OS at a future date. The Beta can be downloaded for free from BlackBerry Beta Zone**. Customers can sign up to BlackBerry Beta Zone for free at www.BlackBerry.com/betazone

I tried doing that and when my 9780 re-started the App World icon was not on my main screen. It's listed in the options section as being downloaded but I have no idea how to get it back. I also clicked show all to make sure it was not hidden and it still wasn't there.

A couple of days ago and earlier today I got the notification update for BlackBerry App World 4.0.0.63. for my Bold 9780. However I didn't download because when I previously tried the App World icon was not on my home screen when it re-started. Anyway assuming I keep getting the notification will I be able to keep ignoring it without any problems? I don't want to one day click onto App World and see a message come up saying I need to install 4.0.0.63. or I can't look at App World until I do that.
God dammit. This morning I woke up with an available update to my BlackBerry Bold 9930. I think it was the upgrade to 7.1. Now, this is my second Bold, my first one got stuck in the upgrade and just completely froze up. Guess what? It's happening again. I figured with the "new" phone it wouldn't be an issue, but here we are again.
It's been stuck on 22% for the better part of an hour now, and if memory serves correct, this is exactly where the other one froze as well.
Anyone else have an issue with this? I don't want to have to deal with this garbage again. Is there something I'm doing wrong here? All I did was click download update and the phone has done the rest, and here we are again. I'll never understand how a phone could just freeze updating it's own software I'm going to give it til around noon to see if anything changes, otherwise I don't know what to do here.

So, if I wanted to sell myself on a BB10 phone, anyone know what the major selling points are thus far? My previous phone was an android phone, and I loved the absolute mass of free apps. Obviously Blackberry doesn't have nearly the same number, but truth be told, I think I could deal with that. I have a Blackberry Playbook, and I like the idea of being able to tether it with a Blackberry phone - but that's about the only selling point I'm aware of - I really don't know much about them. If I bought one, I would be going for one of the touchscreen only ones - the physical keyboard isn't a big deal to me.
My playbook feels like it's dying on me. The browser has been crashing constantly, mainly on image heavy pages, and the sound just stops working randomly. When that happens, music and videos stop working, including youtube videos which will only load the first couple seconds.
Restarting it fixes the problem, but it's only a matter of time before it stops again.
