The G4 PlayBooks are being released...two years late. What's more concerning is their price point. These puppies will detail for $550. That is way too much.

I love my PlayBook. Love it! That said, no one is going to buy an old product and pay $550 for it just because it now has G4 capabilities.

Come on, just release your damn phones already.

Do you mean 4G?

What the **** is a G4?

And I can't believe they continued to actually develop a 4G variation at such a crazy price considering how bad it flopped.

EDIT:

Well at least it got a video store!

It's not just 4G, it also has a faster CPU. It does seem pricey though.

It's not only the addition of the 4G, as mentioned it has an improved CPU, also more memory etc. I don't think it will be $550 unless RIM already has deals in place with service providers for a subsidized one with a mobile internet contract and it ends up costing the consumer a $100 or so.

4G Playbook is official and looks like price points will be up to carriers depending on contracts etc.

the battery on hte new bold ****ign bloooooows. It was fine for the first month or so, but now I can't even get 5 hours out of it and that's even with limited usage. I've checked to see if any program was running in the background, but aside from the default ones, no. I've done a few other suggested tricks too (like during off GPS) and that still hasnt fixed it

My friend was having this issue and it turned out to be an App. He removed the App and his battery life went back to 30 hours.

He has the Torch 9810.

That could be good but it probably won't happen until after the RIM phones are launched in January.

RIM & Samsung both making BlackBerry 10 Phones would give consumers a lot more choice.

Could also mean more BB apps. If this were to happen I could see RIM staying with just the 2 models and not worrying about having 4-5 like they do now.

Makes sense. RIM could concentrate on just making a few high end BlackBerry 10 models and leave the rest to Samsung.

Unfortunately I would have to agree though it would have been nice if had been a little more accurate in that the LTE is not the only addition as the faster processor etc are not mentioned. Had this been $150 less without a contract it might have done well but as is, seems expensive.

Any advice would be appreciated. I have the Bold 9900 (I think), anyways, lately the touchscreen just stops working, everything else works fine. Only is fixed when I take out the battery. Wtf is going on?

RIM preparing BlackBerry 10 preview for carriers, will show off two new devices

RIM preparing BlackBerry 10 preview for carriers, will show off two new devices:

http://crackberry.com/rim-preparing-...eview-carriers

"Yesterday when Bloomberg’s interview with Thorsten Heins came out and folks ran with the "RIM Says BlackBerry 10 Will Soon Be Ready for Licensing" headline there was something in that article that struck me as different from what Thorsten had been saying previously in interviews. No, I'm not talking about the licensing stuff. We knew that. The stuff I'm referring to is the fact he stated he's now carrying a BlackBerry 10 device."

"A new report coming from WSJ, which also had a briefing with Thorsten Heins, indicates RIM is soon set to take two beta devices to carriers as a preview. Meaning, in Thorsten's words, "The physical shape and feel of the new phones is finished and the software nearly complete" and "We're near the finishing line." The carriers noted in the article are Verizon Wireless and AT&T with comments coming from Mark Siegel, AT&T spokesman: "We value our relationship with RIM and look forward to working with them on existing and new products."

"Over the past few days, we've heard from several people this was the case. In addition to that, independently confirmed, RIM is about to or already has started inviting internal employees to take part in beta testing of the devices as well. Needless to say, we're all impatiently waiting for BlackBerry 10 but now we're starting to see it all come to fruition. Other highlights include the statement that RIM will roll out six phones eventually, three that are all-touch screen and three with physical keyboards and will have replaceable batteries"

Hopefully RIM is still on schedule to launch the first 2 BlackBerry 10 Phones in January.

I don't know yet if I like the fact that they are saying 6 phones....I really think they should concentrate on no more then 2-3 and get them totally right. I guess time will tell if this strategy will work.

They need lower end phones to compete where they are still strong(Asian countries).

"According to the executive, carrier aversion to marketing 3G devices is the main culprit for the company's dipping numbers"

I don't completely disagree with that statement, although the latest Torch and Bold 9900 were marketed as 4G devices, so I'm on the fence...

"The Wall Street Journal reports that Heins said there could be as many as six devices in market next year, and he hinted in our meeting that at least one other high-end phone would arrive in the middle of 2013."

http://www.theverge.com/2012/8/15/32...-720-720-x-720

Good to hear they are starting with HD resolutions, I didn't want to see WVGA ala Windows Phone 7.

Although 720x720 is weird as the QWERTY BBs didn't have 1:1 ratio screens, they had 4:3 ratio.
