Finland scored its first goal on PP. It was also the first goal MG didn't get an assist, since his pass was the third one. Bust.

Finland made it 2-1. First goal without Granlund on ice.

E: Finland 3-1, Granlund 0+1.

Interesting game. It seems to be getting a little chippy.

It would've been a great goal, good that it didn't go in, tough.

Yep, but would have been highlight reel material

Finland defeats Switzerland at #WHC by a 5-2 score. Mikael Granlund picks up an assist for the third straight game.

MG with a good overall game. I guess he even had most hits in Team Finland.

Koivu was an absolute beast in the third as usual, directly led to the 4th and 5th goals while also preventing a Swiss opportunity with a good backcheck only to turn around and flip it up to a flying winger almost causing another goal for Finland. How many games do you think it will take this year before the fans get upset that Mikko and Mikke aren't on the same line? They look great together out there, two of the smartest players in the game IMO.

Who says they won't be on the same line? While I still think they'll want to run Granlund on the second line with Cullen as his center, they very well could throw him up there with Mikko.

Heater-Koivu-Granlund
Seto-Cullen-Lats/Butch

Unless we pick up Parise, I wouldn't be surprised by that setup.

Many are already asking for it, including me partially, but the problem is that the second line lies on Granlund's shoulders. While the first line would probably be better with Granlund and Mikko together, it's not worth breaking another line completely.

E: But then again, I might've misunderstood the "this year" part.

The this year thing was in reference to training camp and the start of the next NHL season but since we aren't even close to that yet its a bit presumptuous. I would be fine either way depending on their play and MG's development, centers usually struggle their first year, especially in the faceoff circle so maybe some time on Mikko's wing would help MG acclimate to the league as well as provide Mikko with another great threat to score.

Plus, with Mikko getting kicked out of the circle so much, its not like Granlund isn't going to see his fair share of faceoffs.

What did Sweden end up going with? Did they put S. Kronwall on a forward line and roll 5 defensemen, or are they playing short a forward and keeping 6 D?

I'm pretty sure S. Kronwall is playing forward.

Staffan was playing forward in the first (Staffan Kronwall - Larsson - Persson). I think they said they played 6 D's in the 2nd and 3rd. I think Loui Eriksson played together with them sometimes, don't know who else double shifted. Loui, Persson and Larsson were on the ice when Persson scored assisted by Larsson.

Brodin got plenty of good comments from the swedish commentators. They also said that Mårts (Swedens coach) told them that Brodins pulse rose to 45 when he was told they wanted him to play in the WC (=he's really calm)
