I think this one favors LA better than the other thread as Gagner is a playmaker and this is more on value IMO

Hemsky for Bernier

LA gets some scoring and a top 6 winger while EDM gets a young backup(behind Quick) that could grow with the team to become a #1

Why would LA be interested in making any sort of deal right now? They obviously have a good thing going with their team chemistry and I doubt they'll want to change that heading into next season.

LA can't afford Hemsky, at the same time as an Oil fan I don't understand his contract either but he'll do great things feeding Hall and company sick passes.

Seems like they signed him to a deal for high money and low term to insulate the young guys while they develop. It's not a coincidence that the end of the deal coincides with the end of RNH's ELC. Smarter deal than it got credit for actually.

Edmonton can keep Hemsky and his 5 million dollars contract.
You cannot get Bernier for players you are willing to trade.

what is this suppose to mean? Obviously Bernier would go for someone whose GM was willing to trade him. If you are trying to put Bernier in the ranks with untouchables like Hall, Nuge and Ebs then good luck to you.

I do this in a second as the Oilers, Kings not so much. But I'm pretty sure I remember reading that the Oils GM said that Dubnyk and Khabi would be the tandem for Edmonton next year and I don't really see a problem with that. I think Dubnyk should be given next year as a chance to see if he can really be a #1 goalie. A guy like Bernier would just be to expensive.

wrong................

Bernier will just go to this GM for what Lombrdi wants to have.
And this is a young scoring winger. Period

That Bernier is not available for players the 2nd worst team in hockey are willing to throw away? If/When JB is traded it will be in a package deal and chances are not with Edmonton.

well Lombardi's wants will have to match the other GM. If the other GM is not willing to trade his player for Bernier then Bernier wont be traded. The point was that if the other GM is not willing to trade a particular player then the trade wont happen.
We are talking about Bernier here not Quick.

deal was proposed by a Leaf fan not Oiler. Hemsky is not a throw away and getting someone like Bernier is not a priority for EDM.

I'm not big on hemsky. He may have a huge turn around year, and actually be healthy but the Kings have enough players that are typically injury prone.
Someone posted that the kings cannot afford him. Yes they do have the room, but hopefully they use it else where.

Do not want Hemsky. Oilers would have to give up one of their offensive prospects. I like MPS, but I'm not exactly sure what we'd have to add.

There are no incentives for Kings to make a deal with Oilers.
If it is not overpayment why even bother.
Kings are in pretty good shape as it is.

It's strange how people fail to realize just how much a young goalie with as much potential as Bernier is valued in the league. And no I'm not putting him in the same class as RNH etc. but he is worth much more than Hemsky. If LA did Bernier-Hemsky straight up their entire management staff should be fired.

So, what makes Bernier better than Dubnyk?

Somehow there is no team asking about Dubnyk and quite a few asking about Bernier.
Could you explain why that is?

As a neutral observer I could see something around Bernier for MPS working for both sides. Kings are a bit lacking on LW right? Swapping two high ceiling prospects to get deeper at certain positions... sounds like a good hockey trade to me.

It probably has to do with HF having a fascination with more unproven players with perceived "potential".

Yes, but Edmonton will need to add Oscar Klefbom, Teemu Hartikainen and take out Pitlick.
