I just dont understand it. He seemed like when he was on the ice he was a monster, something must have been going on for this to happen.

I like Nathan Glass alot, but i thought Maaskant was way better all season last year.

I can see your point because last season I would say Maaskant was better as well, however that was last season. I did not like Glass at all last year, I felt he played a little intimidated and was weak in the corners. This year though what I have seen from Glass is a HUGE improvement, that game on Friday he played great and was the best d-man on the team. I think he actually is leading all defenceman for Erie in plus minus as well not that I like that stat but it shows his improvement.

As far as Maskaant, I think he just got passed up by the other players. It did not seem that he progressed much and he was weak with one on ones and had poor skating. Maybe there was a little something behind the scenes but that is what I think.

piss poor effort by the Otters on Saturday. They look uninterested and were going through the motions for the first 40 minutes. Finally they woke up in the 3rd and out played the Steelheads but gave up a late goal.

I am a little concerned after last night because this is the third game this season that they have looked lackluster and uninterested. I am not sure what the problem is but I am really questioning the coaching right now. The coaches need to elevate the boys and get them pumped up. Defensively this team has been bad for years and I can not understand for the life of me why asst. coach Peter Sidorkiewicz has not been fired. He has been bad for years and is it a big surprise that Festarini sucked in Erie then the second he plays for Niagara he plays great?

The Otters just maybe the worst coached team in the league, their head coach and assistant coach are 60 and 59 years old respectively, behind the times ,coaching like its the 80's
Time for some new blood

I know I was one of the people that said no they were not behind the times two seasons ago but now I am thinking I was wrong. I mean Sidorkiewicz is bad, Erie had a player two season ago that I will not name but he called Sidorkiewicz an "idiot" and "all he does is yell from the bench." He also said the players do not even listen to what he says. If that's not a problem I don't know what is. Bassin will never fire the coaches this season though.

It may not be age but the style that they coach because of their era of hockey seems to be the problem.

There are exceptions to every rule have u checked the success rate of this coaching group not even close to Kilrea
Their practices and game plans are years behind
Age would not matter if they kept up with the ages

Exactly right but neither coach will be fired this season, I would be happy if the asst. coach was fired and ftorek was bumped to asst and then a new head coach was hired.
What coaches are even available to be hired?

Erie vs London

Oscar Dansk looks like the real deal. Im very impressed with him. He has incredibly quick legs. Very hard to score on him down low. I didnt realize how good Adam Pelech is and how much of a beast he is. His skating is really good for a player his size. He is real tough to play against. Drafted in the 3rd round by the Islanders, I believe that was a fantastic pick. His strength is playing the defensive defenseman role obviously, but I believe his offensive growth or ceiling is higher than what alot of people think. He has an excellent shot. And I think he makes good decisions quarterbacking the PP.

I have been saying for two years how underrated Adam Pelech is. I agree with everything you said above. The Islanders taking him in the 3rd round could be one of the biggest steals of the draft.

During the game against London, I saw some similarities to Chris Pronger. Thats what type of diverse tool set this kid has to me. He is intimidating and nasty, protects the net and his team-mates. He bulldozes the opponent. He has a wicked shot and is light on his feet. All those things Pronger had. I doubt he has Pronger's offensive production but he brings everything else. At the same time, Pelech's shot from the point and decision making on the PP makes me think he can be on the PP at the NHL level in the future.

What is up with Nick Betz? A healthy scratch? There is something else behind this one.

I'm Saying Nick Betz is going to Windsor.

Reasoning:

Erie Otters: Need D to play in front of Oscar Dansk
Oscar Dansk: 24th in the League. With 10 Games played and 379 shots fired at him (Which is a little bit too high of a number only having 10 games played.) He's stopped 341 of them. That means he's let in 38 goals in 10 games. Zero shutouts with a Goals against Average nearing 4 currently sitting at 3.88. 0.900 Save %.

All signs say, Erie needs to get this guy some help so that he does not have to face so many shots.

Windsor Spitfires: The Spits have made it well known that their year to go for the championship again is Next Year because they have so many 94's (M. Clarke, Rychel, Vail) and 95's and 96's that are only going to mature (Ho-Sang, Studnika, Maletta)

However, They are currently playing with only 12 forwards on their roster, with 8 Defense on their roster that means that they should be looking to trade a D for a Forward. Adam Bateman and Brandon Devlin are names being tossed around.

This is where Nick Betz comes into the picture. He is a Forward (Which Windsor is seeking), He is a 95 (meaning he fits into the Windsor Spitfires plan)

Erie gets some added D which would cut down on Dansk's Work in Devlin or Bateman and Windsor gets Betz which would fit right into the plan and Windsor and end their search for a Forward.

This is where Nick Betz and the Erie Otters come in

With all due respect, what makes you think that either Adam Bateman or Brandon Devlin will help limit the shots against? That's not exactly their fortey. The Otters are already sitting one offensive defenceman, I dont see the purpose of adding a second.

Well I do know that Erie is looking to a acquire another player through trade. However I agree that Bateman and Devlin may not be the best to get. That is no knock on their game, I just see Erie needing a physical shut down type player not a puck moving player.

That may be the case, but they are already scratching players who can play the role the Devlin or Bateman. They also just bought in Spencer Abraham....Why would they get another?

Well if they are looking to acquire a defenceman it is doubtful that they would get another Abraham type player. Nothing wrong with his game as he has played great for Erie, They just need a bigger more physical guy out there. Pelech is the only one on the defense that can step up and use the body effectively almost every time.

long time lurker here, but besides that.
I just want to point out how the J.P. Labardo trade was a steal for Erie.
It's only been 12 games this season, but Labardo is going to have a career season being on a line with the Connors.
As of now 5G+8A=13
Career high is 10G+12A=22pts in 60 games
