In all seriousness though, he will probably stay in the NHL at least another year to prove a point. If a team can get him for cheap I think it'll be a steal. I don't think he's quite as good as some say (someone here described him as a cross between a consistent Semin and Datsyuk - that would make him a top 10 player in the league IMO), but the problem is not talent or "laziness". The problem is he seems like a total dick, which is fine, as long as you treat him like the mercenary he is.
Montreal has been living (and dying) with reactionary GMs and reactionary coaches.
And we see where we are now.......on the outside looking in.......and constantly complaining about how "Management has not developed the Timmins' draft picks".
Radulov did not commit a crime. He is guilty of poor judgement. For him, this is a teachable moment.
I hope that the Preds sour on him forever. I hope that the biggest majority of the GMs sour on him as well. I would love to have Radulov on this team with a coach who understands how to push players' buttons to get them to excel.
Sergei was the practitioner of poor judgement (or so we were told). And now look at him.
The "Montreal nightlife" is an overused cop-out. There is nightlife in every NHL city........maybe not to YOUR liking but it is there none-the-less.
Again, Radulov did not commit a crime. I want to see him in a Habs sweater next year.
It is a crime if you are a fan paying $200 bucks to watch a guy that's out partying at 4am the night before a playoff game.
You are arguing from a position that "hockey players can never be taught right from wrong".
As mentioned earlier, we have seen this type of leadership and coaching for far too long. And our franchise has suffered for it.
Lets say that Montreal does not pursue Radulov and an enterprising GM with foresight does sign him. And with Radulov's talent, he becomes a 40 goal scorer for his team.
What do we do? Complain (again) about the one that got away? Or why dont we ever have superstars in Montreal?
We have been lacking foresight for too long. You cannot teach talent. You can teach goals and expectations.
It's not about teaching. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know you don't go partying until 4 am the night before a 5pm game.
Plus we are not talking about a 17 year old kid in junior, these are 25-26 year old guys.
Yeah cause the Remparts long list of high priced Euros and US "NCAA" guys have all become NHL stars. For all the talent taht ends up there, the Remparts actually have a poor track record for developing NHLers.
Have none of you self-righteous hypocrites ever made a bad decision such as going out the nigh before an important day?
What matters more than anything is PRODUCTION. AK and Radulov both give good production.
You can't compare this to going out drinking the night before a wedding. This is the NHL playoffs were inches and seconds matter, when you pull crap like this it shows a huge lack of comittment.
When is the last time we heard about an NHLer out partying late the night before a playoff game?
It's not like we wouldn't find out with all the camera phones and tabloid media.

Going out drinking the night before a wedding is a lot worse than doing so the night before a playoff game.
You don't get married hundreds of times in a good career.

No but being hung over or at less than 100% would have basically no imapct on how you are at the wedding unless you stayed up all night and never went to bed.

Have you ever gotten wasted the night before an important day, or made a similar mistake?
Or:
Do you have a 100% perfect track record of responsibility?

I've done it before, but I'm not paid millions of dollars to be responsible when it matters the most. If I showed up to the most important meeting of the year after being out all night reeking of booze, I'd probably be fired.
These guys are professionals, and neither is that young anymore. To act like this in the playoffs isn't a "mistake", it's a disgrace that shows a complete lack of respect toward their teammates and fans. And I say this as an AK fan, there is absolutely no excuse for their actions and a 1 game ban is the least they deserve.
