Tortorella is more than welcome to handle the media any way he likes, in my book. With the way he has been so condescending with the media, however, if the Rangers happen to get knocked out they will annihilate him for sure. But no worse than he will get annihilated on these boards lol.
If the Rangers DO happen to win the Stanley Cup, Tortorella better remain consistent and not all of a sudden want to talk to anybody and everybody about the accomplishment. If it's all about 'the boys' now, it has to be all about the boys then, too.
I can only imagine the 100 mph venom going through Torts head when NBC forces an in-game interview with him from the bench
Lol, exactly.
I have no problem with what Torts does... Belichick is the same way albeit not with the temper. He's more passive-aggressive. I've seen both types of coaches win games. Just comes down to whether they win... Torts already has a cup and is one of the favorites to win this one. He clearly knows what he's doing and I'd like to have him be the coach for a long time. The whole idea in finding a coach is to get one who's capable of winning. Then you just get the players around him...

Although he's always had his issues with the media (public feuds with Brooksie etc) I believe it's worse now because of the $35,000 (?) he's been fined this year for speaking his mind and the truth. He's forced to do these interviews by the NHL (or he gets fined) and when he does speak his mind he gets fined. Not to mention the idiotic questions the media asks 95% of the time. How about the ridiculous question asked by the Ottawa reporter last series. "...why did you only have one assistant behind the bench?". Or Stan Fischler's questions, "what went wrong today?" "what went right today".

I go crazy watching these things.
Totally agree the questions can be impertinent, but every coach in every sport is asked the same kind of questions, especially during the playoffs when there is additional media, and most handle them much less condescendingly than Tortorella does.
Please keep in mind I'm not criticizing Tortorella for it...just pointing it out.
Im not a big fan of it, overall. Partly because I think the media generally asks fair questions that I'd like to hear answered.
But mostly because hes just such as ******* about it. I dont see the point on approaching the media with a chip on your shoulder when theyre just trying to do their jobs.
Everything positive I have to say about the Rangers is usually watered down by resentment, but I need to say that I love Torts and everything he does. I always catch myself shaking my head with a grin on while I'm watching his antics. So much character, and you can tell it rubs off on his players. Can't speak highly enough of him.
I find him hysterical..I wouldn't wanna be those reporters, but from an outsider, I think it's great. I understand a lot people don't like it, and think he's a rude d*uche, and you're right, he is. But it entertains me, so that's all I really care about.
Oh, and just an fyi, for the people who do think he's a rude d*uche...newsflash, Tortorella probably doesn't give a ****!
I will also add that WHEN we win the Stanley Cup in about six weeks, I don't want to see Glen Sather front and center getting any attention.
Sather has chosen to basically ignore the media, the fans, and everyone else through all the unsatisfying seasons he's presided over...and that's fine.
But stay consistent and let the team take the accolades. Sather needs do the same thing he does after every season and immediately leave New York for Banff.

My point is that he never liked them. He has to do them or he gets fined. And when he does speak his mind he gets fined $35,000 which is extreme.
Hockey is entertainment and press conferences are a game extensions in that aspect. It is his job to do press conferences in professional manner. I don't understand how the players could respect the guy who fails to do his job, while demanding from others. Torts makes everyone to believe that is he is so focus on winning that he doesn't have time for press and their often stupid questions. In fact, he is just outright lazy. Typical boss type of behavior. Fear Me Until I am Fired! - that is how he gets his results.
He is an absolute embarrassment. I am his fan as long as we are winning, not a second after.

What's worse, Tortarella who grudgingly does interviews or Sather who completely weasel's out of talking to anybody?
But seriously, who cares? All I care about is the result on the ice. Is he getting the most out of his players and winning games with the talent that's given to him. To me he's wildly succeeding, and the league agrees with him as a top 3 finalist for coach of the year.
Oh but I guess that's meaningless, I forgot you "don't like him". Awww, poor you

Yea, they found each other

Adams is "The Most Improved Team" award. The best coaches have their team up already and, thus, are not nominated. Rangers has improved a lot, but I do not see Torts influence on Lundqvist game at all. Hank and McD should share Adams. Rangers are nothing without those two. With this year roster Renney could be nominated for Adams.

I don't like almost everybody, but I do my best not to show it. Torts and his boss and his bosses boss do not feel like doing it. I can't stand such an attitude.
There are times I'm not even watching the game, but I see that the Rangers just lost.
I'll intentionally switch on MSG just to catch the interview, because I know there's a solid chance Tortarella is going to be a complete ******, say something really funny, or just be a **** to the media.
I don't disagree, my response was to the person who said Tortorella speaks the truth and should take over Coach's Corner. He doesn't say anything...Don Cherry he's not!!!
Its fine with me personally I think very few of the coaches handle the media well. However where other coaches sugar coat things and all Tortorella doesn't, as long as the players respect him and he gets results then what does it matter lol.
Plus hearing all he does for that kid that was on 24/7 shows he isn't just a **** he shows he just doesn't like the media.
Talking to reporters and answering their questions is part of the job. Imagine if you went to work and told your boss that you don't like one department you have to work with, and whenever they are just doing their job you're gonna be an arragant ******* to them and not give them info they need to do their job.
Once and awhile it'd be fine, but he does this all the time, very unprofessional.

He's a guy. He doesn't have to speak for hours to say 1 simple thing. He sometimes says more with a raised eyebrow. The interviewers for the most part with Torts are donkeys. They ask stupid questions, or they try to pry into his teams business.
Torts is paid by Rangers...not TSN, or NY papers. He doesn't owe them anything.
