Which rumoured arrival would make you happy?

Out of all the players who are being mentioned as potentially coming to the Leafs who would you be most happy with?

Everyone gets a vote

Luongo and Jokinen.

Jokinen has been an absolute beast at center for Calgary all year long. He has great defensive game which is what we need and he can put up points.

Luongo is a #1 goaltender who can routinely go lights out in the regular season. Playoff hockey in Toronto has always been a different animal and brought the best in goaltenders. That said, CuJo and Belfour always had a great resume in the playoffs.

If we got Jokinen we could let Galchenyuk develop, or just pick a guy like Trouba. I don't see the need for Parise, Nash, Brown, etc. it's just excess that makes a better team. Need to add a bit more foundation. Suter would be nice but I think he would cost too much. Took one high price cap hit and one low one. Both options would help Toronto a lot next year. Think how well a defensive 1st line center would be in Carlyle's system.

To kind of expand it because I love long-winded explanations for pipe dreams.

With a line up of

Lupul - Jokinen - Kessel
Kulemin - Grabovski - MacArthur
Who - ****ing - Knows
Brown - Steckel - Rosehill

D-FENZE

Luongo
Reimer

you get a great group that has a good amoutn of penalty killers (depending on who is on the third line) goal scorers and play makers. Luongo bails out your guys when you need and if he slumps you bring in Reimer. At the draft (even though Jokinen would have to be acquired after the draft) it opens Toronto up to more options. Galchenyuk definitely very high but then Burke wouldn't have to wince if he ended up Forsberg or Murray because that gaping hole at 1C would be adequately filled by Jokinen. The only player I'd really want to go after is a guy like Dubinsky because I think his value is at an all-time low and if we can get him without giving up Kulie then having him on the third line throwing the body and killing penalties I'd be estatic.

Out of the options listed, Ryan Suter or Yakupov, but I find both to be incredibly unlikely. Justin Schultz is a guy who I'd be PSYCHED to get, and I think we actually have a somewhat decent chance to snag him (for nothing but cap space, no less), so I voted for him.

Gotta agree here. Yakupov probably would get me most excited. Lu is up there too. Nash is a great plan B though his cap hit is a bit high.

Slightly off topic, but Modric is a fantastic player, vastly underrated as well.

I would want schultz big time because I think we have nice chance with him, he would also increase our depth in the blue line even further, giving us good bargaining chips per say for fixing other depth needs.

I chose Suter. Nail is a pipe dream, and well, he scares me anyway. Schultz is next on my list.

I agree but Suter has more chance of fixing our problems, while Schultz would be a part of the solution. Schultz is more likely than Suter.

Schultz just because he's probably the most realistic one we can get followed Luongo and Jokinen.

While Suter may help us drastically, realistically I don't see it happening. We aren't a contending team yet and he wants to win now, not grow with the team it seems. I see him going with the wings or something, unless burke really does a miracle and pulls his U-S-A connection over here.

Hence I think Schultz it the one I really am hoping for as he would help us possible in the future to be the next suter?

Edit: I also am curious if we can throw him a lot of money and if that would persuade him, him and parise are both at a good age where I can be okay with a Richards or Carter contract TBH, I am not a fan of them but meh.

For me, I think that some of these options are way more realistic than others, but I still gotta go with Suter. I would throw almost any amount of money at him over multiple years to get him.

He would immediately improve our whole defense and make Phaneuf a better player. I think only Suter would push us to 5-8 in the East

We have about 1000 3rd liners on this team and in the farm ready to graduate, and you can't name anyone for the 3rd line?

Dustin Brown.

Not that he was rumored.

Realistically, Luongo. Dont care about his contract. We need a goalie...bad!

Schultz is the most likely. Dunno the semantics of how it would be done, but as Anaheim are picking behind us in the 6-hole, I am sure there is a deal to be had here where Anaheim get a guarantee that we won't take whatever player it is that they want ( ) & we get the rights to negotiate w/ Schultz. If we were to sign him it would then be less likely for us to take a D man & more likelihood of us dealing one of our mobile D ( not Schenn) in a separate deal to upgrade at a different position. With Holzer stepping in & Blacker coming off a strong year & adding Schultz to the pool would be a great move & allow us to deal from strength w/ the likes of say Edmonton or even Columbus.

I voted for Schultz but my 2nd choice because the price would be less than Nash is definitely Dustin Brown.

Some interesting possibilities that's fer sure!

That was the point, no idea who the third line would be so not going to try.

I guess one needs to look how many of those players are actually rumored to come here. I can find maybe a few who actually are. Nash is the strongest one who comes to mind.

In an ideal world, though, I'd like Luongo and Brown. Luongo is the easiest one to target but we'll have to give up a lot. As much as you think that his contract would decrease his value immensely in trade, I think it wont.

He's still an elite goaltender in this league, IMO, and has a great resume.

Luongo and Jordan Staal/Dustin Brown would be great off-season acquisitions, I think.
