Great game guys. Condolences on the loss. You guys deserved a win just as much as we did tonight. Shame only one team could go home happy.

Ok, I feel better.
I've also come to accept that it was a 3OT loss, not nearly as series crushing as I was treating it.

We always play well after a tough loss, can't say that for previous playoff runs...

I usually get pretty angry and frustrated after losses of this magnitude but this is different in a lot of ways, once it gets to trips OT a lot of the times it just goes either way.

This is a team I'm proud to be a fan of, Bravo Get these ****as GO CAPS

I wouldn't be this dead if we didn't dominate the OT, and hit like 3 posts and had brutal misses like Brouwer.

I haven't moved
Both teams were good in OT, and the 3rd OT was all Rangers.

OK, got a few hours of restless sleep. Yes, some brutal posts/misses, but the Rangers def. carried play in the 3OT. They found another gear and were able to put it home. It is a war, and that was one battle. Given TOI issues, I want to see how the Caps respond, continue to play the system and most importantly, bring the physicality.

Oh yes, I'm sure Washington losing races and puck battles was by design. If DH is to blame it's for:

- Putting Backstrom back with Ovechkin and making the top two lines worse as a result. Ovechkin's going to get looks regardless but Semin without Backstrom was pretty much invisible. Laich doesn't bring a good enough possession game to compliment Semin and Johansson doesn't belong on a top line.
- Not establishing a composed enough possession game overall. There was a lot of wasted energy attacking early on as they're still fundamentally the same ol' high flying circus offense at home.
- Not making sure that the top two lines finished their checks more. The third line was stellar in that regard while the top two lines didn't do it nearly enough to a man.

Really bad game by Mojo. If MP is healthy, do you consider giving him a sweater instead?

I agree. OV-Laich-? should be done. I would even try Ward. Or may be not.

I am tired and a bit pissed. While Dale hunkered down in 3OT we still got our fair share of scoring chances. We certainly could barely score "bringing" it, during which we racked up our lions share of 27 giveaways. They only had 10, and seemed more poised with and without the puck. Everything we did was contested. On the GWG, Richards is in center ice 1 on 4, no one gets after him. Then all 5 chased his missed shot. Game over.

Our Dmen looked more gassed than theirs even before the bunk high stick PK on 3OT - anyone else feel that way? Torts looks smart benching Bickel who must have felt quite the idiot.

I wanted to see Hendricks get a shift on the top line. Still do.

A few of those Rangers logged ridicuously heavy ice time last night. I hope the Caps pound them into submission on Saturday.

The thing about a long game like this is you can tell that the Rangers are the more conditioned team. The style of play they have been playing under Torts for the last few years has done this.

Just an epic game - too bad about the result, but damn right there should be no head-hanging.

Aside from Holtby - who was freakishly calm throughout and seemed more awake and energetic in the 3rd OT than anyone else on the team -- I thought Hendy, Hamr and yes, Wideman, all played very strong games. I thought that was Wideman's best game of the playoffs.

Johansson kept doing the same thing he's been doing all playoffs, only more of it -- overpassing and overthinking. Somebody needs to give him a crash course in North America keep-it-simple; he's simply not adapting his skill set to the demands of tightly contested playoff games.

Caps really need to cut down on turnovers moving forward.

Last night they had 27 to the Rangers' 10. Ouch.

Games where Ovechkin has 6 shots or more in these playoffs: 3, with a goal in each
Games where Ovechkin has 5 shots or fewer in these playoffs: 7, with no goals

Last night: 5 shots.

Next one was going in...

If that post in OT were a SOG it would have been a goal. That must have been the one.

Exactly. That shot goes in 99/100 times. Not mad at all.

Games like these really test your fandom.

Normally I'd say they're done, but the team's shown resiliency this post-season. Not to mention the Rags D is getting worked, especially McDonaugh who got 50+ minutes last night.

It is frustrating as hell that we've had more PP's than the opposition only twice this post-season, and not once against the Rags yet.

The 2 days off between games is really going to help their high ice-time players from last night.

Where are the back-to-backs when you need them?
