Very good period for the most part. Rags had maybe one quality chance and the Caps controlled the pace for the most part.

We're already seeing the impact of Ovie's physical play. Defenseman giving up the puck a half-stride earlier. Keep it up.

And the ice is turrible.

We had 3 legit goal chances that should have been converted in that period, need to make it count before we go into the inevitable Hunter Shell™

Hardly his fault, that was a weak pass and at least he bombed it down the ice and put some pressure.

Need more pucks on net and crashing, esp. on the PP.

Way more open ice through 20 but I'm not sure who that favors.

Yeah I liked that period. Had better scoring chances than the Rangers, and none of our breakdowns looked systemic. Lundquist came up big, well he's good, might be in game-stealing mood today, so just have to keep shooting. Every line looked effective though, great to see.

Rangers D will tire down, it's inevitable and then let the goals fly in.

I counted 3. Most of our offense is coming from the rush, which is great for this team. But we are losing in the potential garbage goal department, can't really maintain a forecheck. Rags are coming away with it almost every time.

I'm not sure what people are praising Holtby for. He played well, but most of their chances looked like they were going to be a lot more dangerous than they ended up.

I swear the Rangers do so many subtle illegal things that they get away with constantly. Oh and Wideman what are you doing?

How often Hunter has to waste the timeout because of icing

Only the Caps can get the other team tired then **** up and stay on the ice and get tired themselves.

I'd take Doig and Kiwi over these two clowns.

Hey Caps, just curious to know where Halpern is?
I don't remember hearing his name during the first round and haven't seen him in this game. Is he injured? How did he work out for you during the season?

Scratched since like March due to one bad turnover and replaced by AHL All-Star Keith Aucoin since

Inability to sustain the pressure and giving away a stupid pass at the point.

Saw that coming. Not a very good period so far.

He made one bad turnover late in the season and Dale has banished him since.

Looks like a BB coached playoff game aka way too loose.

+ losing a home playoff game
