Slater with first goal and player of the game award! Sweet!
No one is going to call him Slippin' Slater anymore!

I'm not thrilled at all! He's potentially getting a higher FA price!

I'm super pumped for him, great start to the tourney for a super deserving guy. Now if we could only get some news about his re-signing...

Quite the showcase prior to his resigning. Love the fact he's had great success so far at the WC, even if it's at the expense of the Canadians.

I agree. And he stays my #3 center, though the GST might need to be broken-up for us to have more success on the 3rd line. Their plus/minus wasn't nearly good enough. But Slates can handle 3rd line minutes and that role.

I hope he likes Winnipeg, which i think he does, and the offer form management is reasonable, which i think it will be.

But if i was his agent, and he turns in a solid WC, i'd want to see what the bidders were going to offer come July 1st. He could still choose to sign here, but let's see what's out there. I would be surprised if he signed before July 1st, but i'd also be surprised if he didn't re-up with the jets after checking the market.

I really really couldn't care who wins the WHC on any given year. I'm more concerned that no Jet players are injured.

Go Slates!!

For sure. I don't think even Slater himself would say he should be in the top 6.

Although I did say last year that I think Slater could be a 3rd line centre. I think with better wingers he could be better than he was last year. Glass and Thorburn just don't bring anything offensively.

So true Would be nice if Germany gets to the quarterfinals again but thats really about the only thing I could care a bit about besides seeing Kane, Slater and Ladd having a good tournament and NOT GETTING INJURED.
