Goodbye Olli Jokinen.

I know nothing about this player, but everything from that article sounds good. I really like the fact that he has played with Jagr.

He's also 26 if I'm not mistaken, he fits the age group Feaster has identified that we need to fill.

Good sign for Flames. Roman is going to be another star in NHL.

Cervenka is soft, skilled player. Not sure he's suited for NHL.

Very happy with this signing. Hopefully he comes in and can contribute immediately. Feaster is impressing me so far. Can't wait to see what happens at the draft.

Well it being a one year deal means he doesn't get much time to adjust, but it also means we aren't hamstrung if he really doesn't adjust.

Would rather see us take a risk on Cervenka than re-sign Olli.

Interesting. I must confess I'm in no position to evaluate this move. Olli must want more term than we want to give him. I don't like our top 2 centers at all without Jokinen. We'll have the worst center ice in the NHL next year. That said, we need to rebuild anyways so as long as moves like this are accompanied by moving out Kipper this summer and Iginla at the 2013 deadline I'm fine with it. We have no one we legitimately know can play on either on the first two lines at center unless you count Cammaleri, and I like him better on the wing.

Seems like a pretty skilled player. Will probably take some time to adjust to the NHL and North American rinks. If it means Jokinen isn't coming back, well, then I'd say it's a good move.

I see him as a 50-60p player but he always does better than I expect him to do.

Our centre depth is fine with this, Cammy, Cervenka, Backlund, Horak and Jones. That also doesn't include a potential trade Feaster may make which would move Cammy back to the wing. Good signing.

The key when considering this move and the future of Jokinen.
Our middle depth is weak for sure, but with or without Jokinen, there's no hiding of the truth of that.

Pray to the hockey gods that cervenka can win a FO, because nobody else in that centre lineup can.

Interesting how Stajan's missing? And as Gnome said, minus the unknown of Cervenka, FOs might be as bad if not worse as this year.

Well, this signing pretty much means so long Olli Jokinen. Can't sign both of them.

Agreed, I don't think you can give Olli more than two years at 8 million if you're the Flames. I think he gets 5 years and 22 million on the open market. Kind of a no brainer for him.

Good move and hope it works for the Flames. Nice to see the Flames dipping into the european market (Ramo, Cervenka, Horak) for new fresh talent. Now if they can get a coach who can put it all together, id love to goto more flames next year and see an exciting team on the ice.

For those wondering, the Flames signing of KHL sniper Roman Cervenka likely puts an end to any chance Olli Jokinen will be re-signed

Me too.

I don't know much about Cervenka, but based on what I've read about him, seems like a low risk-high reward kind of signing. We're in no position to turn down skill right now.
