Kirill Petrov, RW/LW, AK Bars Kazan (KHL)
Drafted 3rd Round, 73rd Overall, 2008

Petrov is a very rangy winger with good reach, which he uses to control the puck. In 52 games this season he sniped 16 goals and added 13 helpers. He has great release on his shot and speed to match. It is very likely he is finally able to join the Islanders next season, and he should become an instant offensive weapon.
Umm.....

That's just uncalled for

Strangely it indicates that Petrov is coming over and will be effective immediately. Why would it say this?

Cuz unfortunately, its a fluff piece. Most of the time, these articles show no thought process whatsoever.

Ok, so my original comment regarding the opinion expressed in the article has been deleted. Perhaps the author would consider amending his article to compensate for the fact Petrov is signed through next season, and possibly up to a total of 3 years?

If the writer was one of us poor idiot fans of this fail of an organization then I apologize for the lack of a well thought out rendition concerning this apparent oversight. However, you have to admit, saying he will likely be over next season is contrary to what Petrov's agent and several news sources have indicated.

Or does the author know something we don't? If so, please elaborate because we could all use the good news.

Most of the "writers" here on HF are horrendous, at best.

One would imagine that the writers are not being compensated.

Which at least shows why we're getting what we paid for. Nothing.

Still though, I am sure most reasonably educated fans of their own teams know basic information like Petrov's contract status.

I'm going to guess it was written before the latest developments and just didn't get updated. I think most on this board were under the belief that Petrov was going to at least come over for camp and see if he could make the team.

No JKP I was thinking the same thing but this article was written 8 May 2012 (yesterday) The writer just obviously was not aware. Let him stay in his country if he doesnt want to come here then oh well, dont want him here.

I think that's the case as well. A friend of mine works for a news site and he literally has articles waiting in his queue scheduled to be uploaded at a specific scheduled time. Helps keep the site flowing with new articles. Unfortunately, I think the writer just forgot to update this article. No harm, no foul. I appreciate their efforts to cover the team I root for.
