Herniated disc's are not fun to have. My Dad had one a few years ago and he said it was crippling. He usually has an extremely high pain tolerance but he couldn't stand the pain of a herniated disc at all. He eventually had surgery to help relieve any pain and now he's fine. Of course at the time he had it he was like 57, so I expect Ilya to recover quicker and stuff at the age of 28/29.

Sit Kovalchuk out of this one. Devils don't need him less than healthy yet.

He might not be playing, just skating...

They also might be doing some medical voodoo, like giving him Cortisone shots or something to reduce any swelling.

I have a herniated disc. Your life is not over just because you have a herniated disc. All it means is that there is an impingement on his spinal cord which is causing pain. Sounds horrible, but the reality is that it's pretty common. There are some real basic non-invasive treatments that can cause the impingement to retreat temporarily (e.g., cortizone shots, steorid treatment, etc). I'm guessing our good buddy Kovy has been at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York getting one or more of these treatments, and they do work quickly.

If they can solve the problem short term this way, fantastic.

Long term - surgery may be required for lasting relief.

If Kovy didn't think he could skate today, he wouldn't be skating.

I told you guys... http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...&postcount=378

Just use Teddy for spare parts from now on. If his are some funky Ikea dimensions I guess use Zharkov's to ensure compatibility.

Keep him out I like having 7 defenceman and just rolling 4 lines. The PK looks to have their mojo back!

He might just be skating to stay conditioned. Obviously morning skate skating is not 20 minutes in a playoff game skating.

Pete DeBoer said Adam Larsson would stay in the lineup. He is paired with Anton Volchenkov today and Peter Harrold looks to be an extra

PP but, I'd rather stick to what worked in game 2. We"ll see if last game was a case of just a Flyer off night or we really have a system in place and match up to shut them down.

I don't know about that. Players do rush themselves back before they should in the playoffs. And nobody is going to say no to Kovy if they think he can help.

It depends. If it's Philly Game 1 Kovy, he's a liability. If it's Florida Game 6 Kovy, he's a big boost.
