If you don't want him logging tons of minutes, where else would you put him?
The bench. He has a herniated disc coming off a win. None of the D looked bad either. If he hasn't improved over his appearance from game 1 there is no point in having him out there. Well, outside of him playing on the PP.
Harrold might sit? Lol I'd be slightly annoyed to have to sit after the outings he has been having. Larsson probably has a short leash though.
That's fine, you want him on the bench and I'm not saying he shouldn't be there, but don't you think he knows what he's capable of?
We don't even know if he's definitely playing tonight.
I think he knew what he thought he was capable of game 1 and 2 bad turnovers cost us the game.
Especially playoff time, I definitely don't trust playoff judgment on health and sitting games. Hope a few days off have given him a big boost. Like super big
I had a herniated disc. I got cortisone injections and did physical therapy to help it, but didn't get surgery. If I do something stupid (like waaaaaaaaaaaaay overexert myself) it'll slip out again and take a few months for me to heal.
He probably had either cortisone injections or a microdiscectome. With cortisone injections, he'll feel completely fine but might hurt himself again from doing a lot of physical activity, but there's not really any danger of anything permanent. The microdiscectome is permanent and apparently not that big of a deal to do these days.. Most people go back to work in 1-3 weeks, but I imagine a pro athlete would probably want to start playing less than a week after.. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays on Sunday if he had the surgery, or today if he had the shots. Thank f*ing god it's not his groin.
Those saying he shouldn't play tonight, if he had cortisone injections, he should play as much as he can before that **** soaks into his body. Right now, the cortisone is reducing the swelling of the area and relieving him of the excruciating pain he has in his leg (from the disc pinching the nerve). After awhile, the cortisone is absorbed by the body and you need another shot. For me, that was ~ a month. I'd imagine it would be every couple weeks or even more/less frequently for Kovy through the playoffs

Tom Gulitti @TGfireandice
Kovalchuk said he's "ready to go", but it will be coach's decision if he plays.
Hey russian, how about being lazy for once? Geez...
I'm ok with it either way, as long as he can be a positive factor for us. Waiting has its merits, and playing him now also has its merits. Up to DeBoer, and I won't second guess him.
