It's not an injury that can really be aggravated further. Once the disc is herniated, it's at its worst possible point. If the disc ruptures completely, the pain will go away and he'll just need a different surgery after the playoffs.

I'm a bit worried about this too especially since we're play Philly...

If the Flyers start playing dirty with Kovy, I hope he knocks one of them out.

Honestly though, I don't think a lot of them will start crap. Maybe someone like Hartnell, sure. But I don't think Giroux, or Briere, or anyone like that is going to want to mess with Kovy after watching what he did to Schenn. They seem to have their hands pull going after Parise, the 170 pound guy that isn't going to defend himself.

Broad Street Bullies is a great term, because they pick on defenseless guys. Once another bully comes and picks on them, they go and cower in the corner.

i for one hope kovalchuk doesnt play tonight. i just dont see how he could have miraculously gotten back to an acceptable level of play between games 1 and now 3. dont force him back if he is going to be a liability and unable to engage in any types of battles.

I hope he doesnt play either. We match up well against them without him in the lineup, and the extra day is always better.

Playing Devils advocate, what if the staff misdiagnosed his injury (that would be a first )

What if what they believed was a hamstring pull was really just general soreness?

4 days of hydration and rest could easily fix that.

Based on one game? C'mon. He's our best player and if he's ready, you want him in the lineup.

Depends if it's a nerve or muscle for a shot?

I'm not a doctor, but I know several people that have had similar issues in their backs and other parts (elbow, etc.)... Depending on how serious the injury is a cortisone shot really can work miracles.

Except they usually misdiagnose it the other way, so it'd be far more likely to be something broken instead of a muscle pull as opposed to the other way around lol.

I would imagine they'd keep the overtime game for the ratings, but I just want a second opinion.
Doubt they would bump it. Yesterday for the Rangers somewhere in the 3rd OT they switched the channel for it (I can't be the only one who had that issue) from CNBC to NBC Sports, but the fact that went to a 3rd overtime and went past midnight could be the issue there. The change was at midnight on the dot actually. That's the only way I could imagine the Devils being bumped to another channel at any point in time. But even then I doubt that's going to happen.

Kovalchuk should stay out, we won last game without him and I'd rather not have a liability out there right now. I want Kovy to rest up and come back with the rockets strapped to his back

Too expensive doesn't mean too expensive for the Devils. It means too expensive for the sponsors to agree to put their name/logo on a t-shirt. The towel is cheaper for them. They want to have a towel giveaway and that's what it is.
