Impression I got from Yzerman and BriseBois is that Janus will be odd man out when season starts.

Yzerman said they won't carry three goalies in Syracuse. BriseBois said Tokarski and Helenius are tied at third on depth chart.

Playing in the ECHL won't do anything for his development.

Can he be loaned to another AHL team?

If Scrivens (sp?) is promoted to the Leafs the Marlies will need a good AHL goalie

- BriseBois also told me that goalie Jaroslav Janus is looking for a place to play in Europe. Janus was a standout for Norfolk last season and the organization kept his rights by qualifying him. But for now he's a casualty of the team's depth at that position.

"We'll keep following his progress,'' BriseBois said. "He's a good player, a good prospect. He needs to play. He's looking for the best opportunity to get as many games as possible.''

Lightning AGM BriseBois on G Janus going to Europe: "He's someone who might play in the NHL and who we're still interested in working with"

Lightning retains Janus' rights. "We get to follow him for a year and re-evaluate where everyone stands a year from now," BriseBois said.

Not sure if you guys noticed this, but Jaroslav Janus has signed with HC Slovan Bratislava of the KHL for next season. If he plays well, he'll probably be back, but this is a good move for him as he'll play against better competition and get more time than he did in Norfolk.

From what I can take from the Google translation: He's just training with them - but hasn't signed (yet).
Quote:
Janus trains in Bratislava

A talented goalie Jaroslav Janus for the new season prepares individual in Bratislava.

Last season, he worked at Janus AHL team - Norfolk Amdirals where in the body, caught 34 games with a 2.36 goals average and 91.4% of successful interventions. In the playoffs four duels added success 93.7% and contributed to the profits of Calder Cup. After a successful season, but decided to return to Europe and is currently being prepared individually in a familiar environment - in Bratislava. (...)

The fate of Jaroslav Janus and its eventual operation of the HC Slovan Bratislava should be decided in late August. (...)

Web site for KHL team HC Slovan in Bratislava, Slovakia, says team has signed Lightning G prospect Jaroslav Janus to a tryout contract.

"I have a contract with Slovan trial until the end of August and will no longer depend only on me, and fight your way to the team. Yaroslavl me to agree that this season I can play elsewhere. For two years I did not want to approve, then it would probably be interested in me, but I do not know exactly "said Jaro after today's workout.
Quote:
"I do not know, when I get a chance, I hope as soon as possible. It's up to the coach and to me, as I look at training. I can not say for sure, but hopefully introduce in a match against any the Finnish team. finally by my family and friends for a long time to see the action live, just somewhere on the Internet, "he smiled Spring. See you then, when given the chance to prove herself, Belas play on Friday against JYP Jyväskylä and Sunday the measured forces with a team KalPa Kuopio.

yeap, he signed try out with Slovan Bratislava (KHL). It is expected he will sign contract for next season with Slovan. He is playing his 1st game tonight, against JYP (finnish champion), it is half of 2nd period now and he has shutout, a few great glove saves.

EDIT:
Slovan won 5:0

I was wondering if it would be one or two. Two years is good for him. He'll get the bulk of minutes, get some great work, and then can decide on coming back or not.

A ton can happen for him and a top can happen to our depth in two years. If his tryout is successful with Slovan, the KHL should help his development immensely.

Janus to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl. Goalie Curtis Sanford is injured, Janus will be backup.

"Now, we got a call from Jaroslav that they hurt Curtis Sanford." I think something was lost in translation?

Yep, translations is really bad, the correct one is as follows:
"I've just had a call from Yaroslavl, that Sanford is injured".

I hope the injury won't be complicated and Jaroslav will stay in Slovan for whole season
