Not necessarily. If they come out and lose the first two - all things are possible to get a spark going. And this could very well happen.

Ross is a big part of the Leafs future bottom 6 - I have no doubt he'll be in the lineup this coming round unless injured

I know we want to develop guys like Ross, but wouldn't that serve to hinder the team chemistry and the confidence of the guy that subsequently sits?
you're not the only one, and you're exactly right. ross has no business getting into the marlies' line-up at this point. its not all about him. he has lots of time to play pro hockey and develop.

the st.john's icecaps are sitting out mark schiffele. he's gotten into a few games, but very limited ice time.

in ross' case, he's played a lot of hockey this year, so i'd guess he's done until training camp.

I wasn't saying that I want Ross to play, I was just curious as to whether or not he'd join the Marlies and if he'd play. Like others have said, Percy is sitting after having some solid play while Blacker was out and thus it would appear that even if Ross joined the team he wouldn't play. I would rather have a successful Marlies team without Ross playing than an unsuccessful Marlies team with Ross.

Ross starting is just as likely as MooseOak posting a constructive comment.

I think a lot of how the kids are used by the Marlies is strictly for development. Giving Ross a few shifts in the bottom 6 will not cost them any games and think of how many young guys first showed their stuff in a late season cup of coffee in the AHL. If they feel a taste of the pro game in the heat of a playoff run will help his development who are we to argue? It may also be that he has played enough hockey this year, but they have been all about giving
their youth challenging opportunities this year so I think they make him the offer.

Losing the first two games to the top team in the league isn't a reason to panic but even if Eakins did change the lineup it wouldn't be for the hell of it like playing Ross because he is there.

If Broll can get some games in, Ross can definitely get in there too.

You already said that... no need to repeat yourself.

This argument seems to only have two sides to it...

Get Ross in because it is good for his development and do not put him in because it could mess with the team chemistry.

Marlies only added one forward since the playoffs started IIRC, which was Sam Carrick about a month ago. So take that for what it's worth.

Yes, but people seem to only read one page of comments.

Anyone watching Komarov and the Finns against the US right now??

His forecheck and energy level are encouraging so far.

Just posting a shout out to leafs prospect Gregg Mckegg.

He has some incredible perseverance. Spending the first half of the season with the CHL's worst club the Erie Otters as their leading scorer and captain. Amidst a rebuild the team traded him to the London Knights for Troy Donnay, Dane Fox, the Sudbury Wolves' second-round pick in the OHL's 2012 draft and London's second-round pick in 2016.

He has gone on to end his Junior eligibility with a championship title and a birth in the memorial cup. This is fantastic experience that any junior player should and would love to be a part of. Congratulations Gregg, look forward to seeing you in pro hockey next season.

I paid attention to Kadri specifically last night. So dangerous, puck control and hands are just nuts.

Loved what I saw, on the boards, down low, at the dot, lots of effort and dedication.

He's still got core work and leg strength to work on, but in terms of being a hockey player, he is ready. Added core and length strength will add to his explosiveness and speed, and IMO that's all that's holding him back from flat out dominating the AHL

He also needs to develop an NHL calibre shot (I think if he gets his shot to the same level as someone like Clarke MacArthur it will force defenders to cover his shot as well). He's got the hands and vision to be a key player in the NHL, but he's still a step or two away. Hopefully he makes the transition this offseason.

I agree but those Steps you are talking about are physical attributes he needs to improve which I agree with. Hence why I said in terms of being a player he is ready but not physically IMO.

He should get more weight on the shot you are right, that should come with better balance as he will be able to lean and position himself for shots. He had a great one timer chance and whiffed as he was off balance. Once he works on that he will take off.

McKegg has come close to a few goals in the mem cup. Gets into very good scoring position.

I want McKegg to score every goal, but I don't want London to win. I like St. John, because I'm a big Jurco fan, but don't want the Spits' back-to-back significance diminished. I'dvlike to see the Cataractes win, but that's a real longshot.

So would Jurco be the better prospect of the two.
