Not sure, but if you do some rough calculations, the adult hockey leagues currently uses almost 50% of the total available ice time at SharksIce during the year. That's the equivalent of two full rinks running full time with just adult hockey playing from 6am to 1am. Which leaves two rinks for everything else SharksIce does: youth league (which is huge), travel teams, tournaments, figure skating, speed skating, curling and open skating. When you think of it in those terms, it's easy to see why adult league fees are so high. Also, I think we've all gotten a bit spoiled and don't realize how good this facility is relative to some other rinks.

I dont know about 2 but I believe the 4th came in 05 so if you look at the archives in 04 you can count how many played on 3 sheets

Awesome! Yeah, having all the games running 45 min. to 1 hour behind sucks. My team just finished our third game today... a third straight blowout loss. Oh well, I think most of us used it as an opportunity to get a bunch of rust off. Look forward to this season at Sharks Ice.

Yikes! 3 in a row? Oh well, it must have been worth it for the fun of playing in that old barn. We lost last night 2-1 in a nail biter. I almost tied it RIGHT at the buzzer, but the ref said the puck went in JUST after the buzzer sounded. I got it on video, I suppose he was right. Super close call though. Then with 30 sec left (running time) I got a penalty shot and tried the same shot I almost scored on, but I nearly lost the puck at the circle and barely got my shot off. No goal

That said, the team we played was really good (Wired 1). The good news is they never scored on 5vs5, only on penalty shots. We'll take the good from that and move on. We play tomorrow at 5ish, and I have no idea if we make the playoffs or not. Brandon hasn't exactly made it clear who makes it and who doesn't.

Fun times though!

I have to rant about the refs at Sharks Ice, because things are getting a little out of hand. I've been playing hockey there since it was only two rinks, but in the last year I've seen more on ice violence than I have in all prior years combined. It seems the refs have adopted this "let them play" attitude which is doing nothing but causing people to get hurt. And when they are called out on it, we're met with an arrogant and enraging response of, "are you the one making the calls? Are you the one in the stripes?" I just don't get it. They're ignoring full on body checks, two hand slashes, spears, hooks, and everything else that can cause a game to escalate, and then acting shocked when things get out of hand and someone gets hurt. We're playing for fun, and no one wants to go to work the next day in a cast because the officials aren't protecting the players.

Refs were bad my last game but not in the same way as you. The calls were extremely inconsistent, the calls were frustrating as sometimes touching a guy was a penalty but high sticking or body checks wernt

Maybe if Tylers team loses on a last second hail mary we will get new refs

I had one of those games where they let everything go last season... One of my teammates gets laid off and laying on the ice, appears to be injured and I skate over to the ref(im the captain) and go "this is what happens when you dont call anything" and I got a penalty

I've taken a penalty like that. I also got an unsportsmanlike last season after I finally drew a hooking call after taking 5 of them, and screamed 'it's about ****ing time' to nobody in particular. In hindsight, I deserved it. Overall, I think the refs do a pretty good job there and take way too much crap from the players.

I have noticed that they call it very different at different levels. Stuff that they never call in C's they call all night in E.

One of our guys tonight got a game misconduct for refusing to shake the ref's hand. He also made racist comments regarding our player's ethnicity.

It seems like some of these refs let their egos make the calls for them. There is also no way of holding them accountable for their actions, since they are not Sharks Ice employees. The evaluation forms are next to useless, since they immediately disregard it as sore losers complaining.

What did he do, put his hand out to shake the refs hand and pull it back when the ref went to shake it?
