wtf did Ron Wilson do to Schenn? He was a pretty good young player a few years ago.

Hard fought win, which might mean the Canadians are more battle tested against the Americans tomorrow night, but Cam Ward's got to be better. And Schenn needs to be dropped into a black hole.

Not sure what was duller, Sutter's coaching or the IIHF commentator from the youtube stream.

lol, the Leafs organization is such a weird and goofed-up situation. It's like that's where bright young stars go to die.

Like I said, goaltending's not going to be an issue with this Canada team. The ability to finish chances might be.

Multiple post hits and, despite the great play of the Slovak goaltender, multiple chances that should have been in the back of the net.

Good effort for Slovakia. But kinda reminded me of our first game of 2010 WC, which we narrowly lost to Russia. And just a few days later we lost 0-6 to Denmark, so...

Yes, but the rest of his team didn't.

Besides, Hamerlik wasn't game-savingly good. He made a few good stops, but he wasn't like....off the hook unreal or anything.

This has got to be of the most disappointing wins for Canada IMO. Like..yeah we won but wow do we have issues. Our D zone coverage needs a lot of work, Ward needs to be better and my goodness can we hit someone!! we are soft!!! And let me add Schenn should not be on this team..and I'm a Leaf fan, slow as molasses.

Nothing revs you up like a close game, but at the same time, nothing takes the wind out of your sails like one either.

I hope for a better rebound game this year...

The only thing we hit consistently in this game was the iron. Story of my life as a Hockey Canada fan. I remember in that 6-5 loss to Russia at the WJC, we hit the post 4 times.

It`s as if he was narrating the events to his friends. I`ve got a feeling there will be many quotable sentences from this guy.
He isn`t a native speaker, is he?

And Burrows - is it curtains for him? Brain injury to send him home to recuperate?

Honestly, if he wouldn't have let in that second goal (let's assume that one of our goals didn't go in too), and we'd have lost 2-1, I think I would have considered him game-savingly good.

That second goal was terrible though.

What did you expect from the D lol. They've brought in a struggling pairing from one of the NHL's worst teams by the end of the season. Two avg dmen on teams that missed playoffs and a junior. Keith is the only dman on that team who I want there. They could've asked so many more, even Brodie on Sutter's ex-team would've been better than Schenn or Murray.

Last year iirc we won 4-1 or 5-1 in the opener so who knows...I wouldn't judge too much based on this.

I think it's a Brian Burke thing. Happened when he was in Vancouver too.
